Hi! We are a Scottish couple, Bob (he/him) and Rhona (she/her) visiting New Zealand on a working holiday visa. We are 36 (Bob) and 34 (Rhona), and have been together since 2009. We arrived in New Zealand in September 2025, initially on a 1 year visa but we expect to extend to the maximum 3 years. We have purchased a car so that we can explore the country to the fullest.

We have been vegan since 2018 so we are most interested in volunteering opportunities with vegan animal sanctuaries or vegan households. We have spent the majority of our working lives in administrative/support roles and we're excited for the opportunity to broaden our horizons and try new things!

As a couple, we are very similar; we're both laid back, positive people and very conscientious workers with strong communication skills. We work well together, we're quick to learn new skills and love to be helpful to others. We are physically strong and like to keep active, but would enjoy non-physical roles too! We are introverts so we do enjoy our own space to retire to after spending the day with others.

At home we run socially with the Vegan Runners run club. We like working out, watching sports, hill walks, board games and video games. Bob likes to play football. Neither of us smoke, Bob rarely drinks and Rhona doesn't drink at all.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Before arriving in NZ we worked in office based roles, Bob as a Sales Support Administrator at a plant & tool hire company and Rhona as a Programme Administrator at a university. We have focused on administrative work in the last 10-15 years, however we both also have experience working in retail and Bob has carpentry experience from working with his Dad in his younger years. We are very organised and like to work with precision. We work to a high standard and once we understand a task we are happy to work independently. Written instructions are appreciated!

Rhona has previously provided admin-based voluntary support to a UK-wide cat welfare charity and we have both volunteered a handful of times at our local vegan animal sanctuary, helping out with some of the dirty work! We also occasionally volunteer at parkrun and would like to keep this up in NZ.

We have owned our property for 11 years so have plenty of experience in looking after a home. We don't have any gardening experience, but would love to learn. We are used to sharing our space with animals, having had pet house rabbits for 10 years. We love all animals and we're looking forward to spending time with animal companions once again. We like to think we can cook! We eat mostly whole food plant based, but we are excited to discover what vegan snacks NZ has to offer too.

Bob has been learning Spanish the last few years so it would be a happy coincidence if he could practice this with others while in NZ.

Was noch ...

We like to watch lots of sports - but with the time difference, we'll probably have to find new sports to follow! We like football, F1, tennis, road cycling, athletics and American football. Bob would love to play some football while in NZ.

We like board games, card games and video games. Our favourite video games are silly couch co-ops we can play together, and Bob also likes to play World of Warcraft & League of Legends.

We like listening to music and podcasts. We're awful with new music and tend to stick to what we liked in the 2000s/2010s!
