Beschreibung

We are a small family of three: Janna, Joseph & Naelle. We are currently taking parental time to go travelling for about 10 months with our daughter. The rough plan is to take our van to southern spain and the Canaries to find a sailing boat that takes Joseph across the Atlantic before we meet up again in the Caribeean. Along the way we would like to stop in each country for a while to support projects, learn, teach and find some inspiration.

Update: That plan above changed as the always do ;)

About us:

Joseph:
I am 34 years old and usually a maths, physics & astronomy teacher for the ages 10 to 18 in Berlin, Germany.

My main interests are music (dancing, playing, listening..), languages, teaching and learning, sports (climbing, football, swimming, surfing) and Yoga/Meditation.
I have some work experience in farming, construction, industrial fishing, roofing, service, gardening, experience pedagogy and teaching.

Languages: german, english, spanish - fluent
brasilian, french, italian, russian - basic

Janna:
I am 37 years old and usually work as an occupational therapist specialised in children.

My main interests are dancing, yoga, singing, searching for new music, body work, theatre, psychology, talking to people and getting inspired by new perspectives.

I have work experience in theatre pedagogy, playing and directing theatre, gastronomy/service, addiction psychiatry, relaxation prodecures for children, gardening and occupational therapy in all areas from children to the elderly.

Languages: german, english - fluent
french - basic
spanish - beginner and learning at the moment

Naelle:
Naelle is 3 years and 4 months old. She loves to climb, dance and sing. She is used to being on the road with us and adapts quickly to new environments. At the moment she loves to ask "Why" about everything and to ride her bicycle and to cuddle puppy dogs in the street.

I have worked in many different jobs: labouring (construction, paving, carpentry), gardening/ farming/fishing, maintenance, service (music and other events, gastronomy, hostels), in a physics research facility and lately in an electronic mobility company. Also I have tutored students in languages and maths and looked after children. I can work myself into new tasks very quickly and will reliably do my job.

I can teach maths/physics, languages and astronomy up to High School level.

Joseph, Janna and Naelle have been a lovely family. They helped us in difficult times, with good disposition.
YñTheir stay of almost 3 months , has been very pleasant and we have experienced it, like sharing our space and projects with friends.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Join us in creating our dream ...)

We planned to stay at Wolfgang and Lilis finca for about a month which turned out to be almost three, so I think you could you say we got along very well :)

From the start they were quick with their replies on Workaway and via phone which helps a lot when you are traveling. Also they were very reliable and flexible with all proposed changes and … read more extra wishes. They were very organised with their projects and tasks and initially a lot of the work contributed to our own well-being e.g. constructing a kitchen for us and future Workawayers.

Most of the time we worked separately, so I (Joseph) would construct a lot of different things with Wolfgang (e.g. the kitchen, installing electricity, a roof for the bathroom and so on) and Janna would be in the garden with our daughter and Lili and look after the children or feed the chicken or cook but usually we would all eat lunch together with their tasty oranges or Lilis delicious coco balls as dessert :) Sometimes both our families would go on a trip together e.g. to the kindergarten christmas market or the german christmas market in the south or to have dinner together.

We got to know all of their family that lives nearby as we became more and more part of their finca and family.
We usually had saturdays and sundays off but they were always very flexible with changes e.g. when we had friends in town visiting. They took us along to several beautiful spots like the "ciudad des las cuevas" and "la selva de Moya" and recommended us a lot more. Also they trusted us with their children so we would sometimes look after them in day or night time.
At the end of our stay another Workaway family arrived with two children, who stayed in a tent and we also got along with them very well. Lili always made sure that all different dietary needs were met and that we always had everything we needed.

Lili and Wolfgang are very experienced in many different fields so you can a learn lot from them. Also they both speak spanish and german fluently which helps if you wanna learn either of those languages.

To conclude: We will full heartedly recommend staying with Lili & Wolfgang and the twins + their three dogs.

Thanks Lili, Wolfgang & family for welcoming us in your home with open arms for such a long time!

For other Workawayers: There is two buses every hour 335 (blue colour) and 46 (yellow colour). 335 goes directly into town but it brings you to the old town of Las Palmas (San Telmo) which is 30 min walking from the next beach (Alcaravaneras) or you take another bus. Either way if you want to get to the beach of Las Canteras (new town of Las Palmas) you can take both: 335 & 46 and need to change buses, which means you pay twice. Every ride is 1,40€. It takes about an hour to get to the beach of Las Canteras. The local bus app is more reliable with departure times than Google because a lot of the buses run late.
