Paulina and Guste are two school friends that are graduating from university and looking to spend the summer holidays exploring Europe.

Paulina's description:
I am currently a final-year engineering student looking to make the most of my final summer before starting a professional career this September. I am highly ambitious and motivated in my personal and professional life but also have a deep passion for travelling and meeting people from various backgrounds.

My experience with volunteering started when I was 16 and participated in ERASMUS+ Youth Exchanges which opened my world and exposed me to travelling and people from various backgrounds. Since then I try to make the most of my free time seeking cultural enrichment by exploring the old continent and discovering its heritage. I also have a deep passion for history and an appreciation for architecture which usually takes me to museums and galleries where I could spend hours and hours roaming endless corridors...

Outside of work and university, I also part take in recreational sports and enjoy taking long walks around the cities or countryside. I also enjoy reading non-fiction historical books or classic literature and recently have developed an interest in economics as well.

Guste’s description:
I am currently a final-year MSci Software Engineering student eager to make the best of my last summer before starting my professional career this September. I have always wanted to travel around the world, experience the journey of cultural exchange, personal growth and meet new people. Therefore, I think Workaway experience is the best way to do it.

I am eager to connect with people, help communities, contribute my skills, and immerse myself in a new environment. I enjoy reading books, learning about the latest technologies, getting back in time through the exploration of history, learning new languages, and admiring art and local architecture. I have a passion for food, therefore, I am always eager to sample local cuisine. Outside of my work and studies at university, I love to actively spend my leisure time. I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, and playing beach volleyball.

Paulina's - Civil and structural engineering
Guste's - Software Engineering

Professional background:
Paulina's - internships in infrastructure design (probably not particularly relevant for this), 1,5 years experience as a business analyst
Guste's - internships as a technology developer (3 months), technology consultant (3 months), and as a research assistant, associate (6 months).

Customer service skills:
Paulina's - worked in a bar for 2 years, and in a restaurant for 4 months
Guste's - worked in a restaurant for 5 months

Gardening: I have a large garden at home and would help my family with outdoor tasks such as tending the flowers. Attended flower arrangements classes in secondary school.
Kitchen and Household management: making fruit and vegetable preserves from goods collected from the home garden when growing up (pickled cucumbers, jams and fruit preserves)
Crafting & DIY skills: Had a workshop in the basement where I would experiment with DIY decor for my bedroom. Most notable creations include repainting a chest of drawers and building an outdoor furniture set from upcycled wooden pallets.
