I am a lifelong farmer, learner of things, speaker of words, maker of music, lover of life.

Beschreibung

Hello, I’m Orion. Originally born and raised in MA (outside of Lowell), I left MA shortly after high school, putting a focus on farming and travel, after falling in love with farm life out in Italy.

For the past decade of my life I have been a farmer, although before that most of my work was more in the realm of NGOs, public speaking, and politics. Most of my ‘education’ I received was through the after school program (middle and high school) which was the bridge into my knowledge and career of international affairs and peace building.

After feeling burnt out from the political sphere, my travels brought me to many different places, and not always for farming. Many times in my life, my knowledge in farming combined with my work ethic, have allowed me to call many places home, even if that was not my initial intention of visiting. I found that farming has always been a way to be of service, and to truly generate something tangible for whatever amount of time I was to be there.

Over the course of my life, my skills and knowledge in farming and land management grew, and I was given more and more responsibility.

Most recently, I was a managing partner of a small farm in northern New Mexico. There I was truly able to manage in a capacity that I felt very comfortable in, overseeing the ground operations of the farm, as well as managing people and infastructure expansion. There I was able to learn even more, and eventually we developed a culinary mushroom operartion, which practically doubled our revenue.

In this moment of my life, I am moving forward from New Mexico and headed back to my roots. I am looking forward to returning to the North East, in order to create my own business and return to more of the passions I had before farming.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Most recently I was managing a small farm for the past 2-3 years in Santa Fe. There I expanded the infastructure of the property, managed the farm crops, and also developed a culinary mushroom operation which doubled revenue and allowed for continued development of the farm in multiple ways.

Animal Tending/Care - worked with many different types over the years (cows, goats, chickens, sheep, etc)
Gardening/Planting/Harvesting - worked on multiple farms, rural and urban, managed properties and heped with expansion and general business
Basic Carpentry/Landscaping/ (becoming a handyman) - always learning more of this trade
Organizational/Time Management skills - classified “gig worker”, I like to put on events and get things accomplished
Social/Communication Skills - Good at understanding directions and clarifying, as well as giving direction and delegating
Hardworking/Driven - I like to complete the job to the best of my ability

I am also a writer/poet and multi instrumentalist.

Was noch ...

I am looking to spend the rest of the summer and fall in Boston, to work on my business ventures, as well as be closer to family as I am originally from Massachusettes.

I would be looking to stay until it got cold, and then going further south to expand the business to my connections there. Unless there was an opurtunity that kept me there for the winter, I think i have had a good enough experience of a New Enlgand winter for an average person!
