God morgon!

My name is Noemie and if you are reading these words it means perhaps we are going to spend some time together in the future! As I write these words, I’m still at home, in Brittany, in the northwest of France. I live in an apartment next to the river, my cat Pilou is by my side while I’m preparing, little by little, this trip to Sweden.

It’s been a long time I’m dreaming of backpacking by myself again. Once the decision was made, a destination had to be chosen! In 2019, I enjoyed a lot discovering Norway through a workaway experience with my boyfriend. Why not continue exploring Scandinavia by discovering Sweden?

The more I discover about Sweden, the more it stirs my curiosity up and confirme my choice:
the re-descovery of Astrid Lindgren’s books ; curiosity of famous « fika » ; a French researcher work (Marion Cuerq) about the Swedish engagement for children’s rights ; the reading of several novel taking place in the heart of Swedish forests… and also the possibility of joining Sweden from France by train!



I enjoyed a lot my previous volunteering experiences, and I would love to continue travelling this way.
In my two previous volunteering experiences, I liked working outsides and take care of plants and animals.
The first one took place in Norway. I volunteered with my boyfriend Theo at Eva’s place: a house in a small island above the arctic circle. We worked in the garden, painted a roof, took care of Eva’s dog, cat and hens. I loved the wonderful setting where we lived, by the water. We shared loads of great time sharing delicious meals that we’ve had cooked together. Eva made her own bread and we helped her with it.
In fall 2021 I’ve volunteered for ten days in Switzerland, via "woofing", with a producer of herbal tea. I enjoyed being in the mountains and helping compose the herbal tea bags.


About myself

I grew up in a small town attached to traditional danse and music and leaded by a strong spirit of solidarity . Each year was paced by several parties. My favorite was the solstice’s one, with the Saint Jean’s fire. I long of discovering Midsommar and I would be thrilled to discover this celebration by your side.

I like talking by the bonfires, sharing good meals, warm places ; I like hiking, contemplate landscapes, reading, playing boardgames and telling stories. By the way, part of my job is to be a storyteller: I would be pleased to discover some of Swedish legends and share to you some of my traditional stories.


What more to say?

I’m part of militant self-managed choir, and I like singing with others, no matter if it's not always in tune :)
I’ll arrive in Stockholm on the 14th of June and I intend to spend 3 or 4 days there. After that, if it’s good for you, I would be pleased to join you at your place! Until that time, I try to learn some Swedish with Duolingo: I hope beeing able to tell some words by the time I arrive!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I like working outdoor, I don’t have a lot of special technical skills but various basic knowledge and a thirst for learning new skills. I’m able to do some painting, I enjoy cooking, making bread. I've done basketwork several time in my life and I love wicker work (even if I'm still a beginner!).

Having lived my childhood in countryside, I’m used to general house maintenance, home improvement and gardening. I grew up with donkeys, sheep and hens. Where I live now, I volunteer in a non-profit organization that own eight cows: we take care of them together. I especially like cats: if it happens that you live with one cat (or more!) I would be pleased of their company.

I’m rather fluent in English, and try to learn some words in Swedish. I love telling stories and tales.

Was noch ...

In my everyday’s life, I try to reduce my consumption, I buy local food and even if I have no special diet, I'm interested in reducing my consumption of meat.

I’m adaptable, I lived with housmates and in host families in Ireland (for a year) and Quebec (for a month).

I like outdoor activities (hiking, canoeing…), I love sauna and I like to share a good time around a board game or chatting…
