Change the world, or change how I live in it?
Hi! I'm a 27-year old, from Iowa, USA. Following a 2-year volunteer program working in a coastal village in Timor-Leste, I'll be slow travelling throughout Europe and Asia from April to mid-November, 2025. Having tried out the 4-day city hopping type of travel, I've realized that taking my time and developing a sense of community is more my style. Although Workaway can save money, my main focus is the deeper cultural integration travelling through Workaway can provide.
I bring a variety of skills to the table:
- Website design, tech support, and social media management (I run my own business)
- Teaching English (TEFL certified) and coaching
- Hospitality experience in restaurants and hotels
- Construction and handy work
I’m also a quick learner, eager to pick up new skills, especially in farmwork and cooking.

- In my downtime, I enjoy exercising, meditating, reading, and diving into creative projects (you can check out some of them here: https://kylescheer.com/#projects).
- I want to explore simple living, building community, and different ways of seeing the world and our place in it (spiritual practices)
- Not a picky eater (although working to handle spices better). Love trying new fruits

Hands-On Help: I have experience with construction, trail building, home renovation, and debris removal. I'm hoping to learn more about gardening work and animal care.
Teaching & Training: I have my Teaching as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certification, with over 200 hours of English teaching experience. I've facilitated workshops in financial literacy, marketing, and digital skills. I also have sports coaching experience.
Technical Skills: I design websites, troubleshoot tech issues, social media, and help optimize operations using digital tools (such as Point of Sale software or finances).
Hospitality: I have experience working as a hotel housekeeper and in restaurants as a busser, dishwasher, and host. Interested in learning new culinary dishes. I also have experience as a receptionist, cashier, and party host.
Organized & Reliable: With experience in leadership and logistics, I'm great at planning, coordinating tasks, and keeping things running smoothly.
