En este momento, estoy en una communidad cerca a Armenia, Quindio, trabajando en una escuelita por tres semanas. Lo mismo lugar que mis padres conocieron como trenta anos atras, un lugar especial.

Holis! Heyo!
I am finally travelling around South America! He llegado! Something I have been meaning to do for years.

I have been in education for most of my life (que pena) learning from the experiences of others and now I want to see the world for myself from people and cultures different from my own. All my life I have had an affiliation with Spanish (Castalleno) as I have a Spanish name, Ramiro. I have always wanted to learn another language and learning Spanish is the principal reason I am travelling around South America right now. It is a wonderfully perspective changing and incredibly demanding experience that sometimes hurts my brain, pero me encanta.

Super keen for farmwork and hard labour, to get my hands dirty and connect with the earth.
Also excited to work in hostels and social spaces to get to know interesting characters and bring people together.

In other words I am pretty much up for anything and everything you can throw at me as I feel like an open book, keen for new adventures through meaningful interaction and helping others :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have been working in kitchens as a chef since I was 19, my last job in England was in a small veggie/vegan cafe in Brighton where I was running service 5 days a week. I can work really well under pressure and communicate efficiently in a team.

I also have experience in manual labour like groundskeeping and event construction. For example in order to save money for this trip I worked 3 different jobs (cafe, bar and construction), sometimes without a day off for as long as 28 days.

I have a degree in Sociology and Philosophy from Sussex University (Brighton UK) which taught me how to discipline myself and organise my time.
I love to be creative as I am an avid artist mainly interested in abstract hand held mediums such as drawing and pastel work.

One of my favourite pass times is to be active by playing football, tennis, table tennis, skateboarding and swimming which helps to reinforce my stamina and drive as it's a constant challenge to improve.
I am trying to learn Spanish at the moment which is a totally new experience.
I am a social being and find it easy to get along with people. I always try to avoid confrontation and instead put people at ease.

As I have been travelling with my best friend since the 23rd of September 2024 I have already learned so much from recent endevours.

We spent two months in a cooking school /restaurant in Manabi, Ecuador learning alongside the other 11 cooking students as well as teaching English.

One month in LaSucursal Hostel in Cali dancing salsa over the busy christmas and new years period. We worked on the bar organising activities and making drinks as well as and during the breakfast shift.

Two weeks on a permaculture farm in the Riseralda region near Philandia. Very hard but fulfilling work weeding the grounds and harvesting coffee, platano, sugar cane, yuca etc. We reinforced walls with cement, built a veranda and stairs into the path and made panela from scratch.

Three weeks in a small school near Armenia. Our activities here include building plant beds, a small swing set for the children and painting murals.

Was noch ...

I am quite goofy and maybe a wee bit strange. I have a small green speaker that is in constant use because everything is better with tunes on. I am always down to cook and learn new recipes. Sometimes I need my own space and a bit of dow-time. I value sleep very much and I'm a big fan of playing cards and drinking aguardiente.
