About Us: Mike (43) and Dani (32)

We are Mike and Dani, a couple who met during our solo trips in Costa Rica. Our shared love for nature, the great outdoors, simple living, and adventure brought us together. We are passionate about doing good by mother nature, by other people and living a meaningful life. Since that trip, we have been inseparable and we are in the process of finding our next place to call home, but in the mean time we are eager to connect to people in places we love and share our skills, passions and knowledge.

Mike has over 20 years of experience in construction management and is a skilled handyman. He is trained in structural and electrical engineering and has a shed full of tools, always ready for a good DIY project. Mike built our tiny house and is also a wizard when it comes to engine repairs, carpentry and welding.

Dani is a software engineer, with heavy training in healthcare and pharmaceutical research. She loves gardening and, having grown up on a farm, is adept at any agricultural work, preserving food, preparing soil, pruning, propagating and all the rest of it.

We are both hardworking and love helping others—no task is too big or small. We enjoy healthy eating, staying physically active, and spending time outdoors.

We also have a dog, Juneau, she's a 11yo cocker miniature schnauzer. Juneau is a very laid back, well behaved, house trained and loves everybody kind of dog, is very good with kids and has previously volunteered as a support animal at a childrens hospital. She barely ever barks but she does the most adorable little howl when she's supper excited.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

My parents have always had a garden, so when I was growing up we always had fruit and vegetables to be tended to, harvest and then preserve. I always loved gardening and am a biologist so also know a thing or two about plants. My dad is an engineer, so building stuff runs in the blood too, though only extends as far as DIY and upcycling furniture for me for now - though I have done some amateur brick work and sanding so love getting stuck in with those kind of things too :) I am fairly active and enjoy loads of outdoor sports and activities, so love being out and about in nature.

Was noch ...

I always wanted to experience Workaway, but got stuck in with my job and life and family. I currently work as a researcher in pharmaceutical industry, but I love all things outdoor and hard work, related to agriculture and farming. I am very easy going, polite and calm person to be around. Love cultural explorations and always try to be respectful to other and my surroundings.
