"My name is Mattia Vinicio, a 21-year-old who, after graduating, decided to take a leap of faith and spend one year in Mozambique as part of the Universal Civil Service. I had the opportunity to experience firsthand a side of the world that we often don't know about, interacting with a new culture, a new language, new people, new colors, and new scents. I learned a lot, which has strengthened me as a person, making me ready for any kind of experience, or almost :). I’m an adaptable, empathetic, smiling, and outgoing person, open-minded and free of prejudice, with a passion for social issues. I’m full of energy and eager to try new things as I continue writing my life story.

I’m a native Italian speaker, with a good command of English and the same for Portuguese. In particular, regarding Portuguese, I would like to continue my learning and eventually get certified in it. I have always contributed my labor during the summer and other times, working as a waiter, entertainer, construction worker, and secretary. But what I love most is art in all its forms: I have been a drummer and percussionist for over five years, a huge fan of Brazilian music, and I have a passion for photography and cinema. I am very happy to share my small fountain of knowledge with new people.

What has brought me the most happiness in life has been meeting like-minded people, with whom I could exchange ideologies, ideas, emotions, and moments. When souls connect, I am happy, no matter the distance. I can’t wait to get started!"

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I volunteered in Africa, working with young people in an after-school program, and I participated in a music therapy course at a facility for differently-abled youth and in an orphanage. I worked as a waiter at a restaurant in the center of my hometown (Modena). I served as a secretary at a real estate agency. I also worked as an entertainer at a summer camp for children aged 5 to 10. I assisted a bricklayer during the renovation of the four facades of a house, helping with simple and manual tasks.
When it comes to physical work, I have no problems—it's my field, whether it’s tasks like heavy material handling or even gardening. (In the past, I experimented with maintaining a garden of fruits and vegetables, though I never delved deeply into that area, staying on the surface.)

Beyond physical work, I am also an excellent listener, and my character allows me to work closely with people and in social contexts.

Was noch ...

What I haven't mentioned about myself yet is my deep passion for cooking. Ever since I was little, I've always cooked at home for my family—research is my key. Over the past year, I’ve become very interested in vegetarian cooking, but I still enjoy eating meat, at least for now :). I love water sports; I’ve taken a few surfing courses in the past, and I’m a certified PADI "Open Water" diver.
