Hello! My name is Marley, I am a 24 year old guy from Ireland. I am an outgoing but relaxed guy, with a love for adventure, connecting with like minded people from around the world and seeing different ways of living.

I’m passionate about environmentalism, nature, physical movement - be it dance, surfing, climbing or anything else - and everything to do with the outdoors. I’m technically minded but also have a deep passion for creativity and art. I love music and am always up for a jam session! I play guitar and I have my sights set on learning the drums. I am particularly interested in traditional music forms from around the world. I would love to hear some music from your home country! Reading is also important to me. I have an appreciation for fun novels, history and science and just learning new things in general. I’m very open-minded and love hearing different views and having stimulating discussions :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Some of my hard skills include: electrical knowledge, robotics, woodworking, basic house construction knowledge, metal work and welding, using power tools and large machinery such as mills and lathes, mechanical design and basic programming skills. I am hard working, enthusiastic and highly focused when learning new skills.

I trained as a mechanical engineer and worked building machines and automation in some cool industries such as vertical crop farming and vegan meat. I have always had an obsession with building cool things. The intersection of pragmatic construction and creativity is where I thrive. As a child I always had a project on the go, such as a homemade forge where I made knives, building drones and pulling apart old appliances to build little robots. In adult life, some of my best memories have been working in the arts festivals building large scale installations.

I have done several Workaways in the past and have had nothing but magical experiences. Some previous projects were building a straw bale house in France, using zip-lines to bring construction material to renovate an old stone building in the remote Italian alps, animal sanctuaries and organic farms. I can take initiative, which I know is important as it can be difficult to host a volunteer project, but I will always be proactive and help where it is most needed.

Was noch ...

As mentioned above I have had many magical workaway experiences. I travelled with a friend on a joint workaway account in the past. This is my first solo volunteering experience. So unfortunately I do not have any feedback on my solo account but all my previous experiences were incredibly positive!
