Hello to my profile! My name is Marcelina. I consider myself a reflective, realistic, diligent and organized person that is set on her goals and does not shy away from new opportunities for growth and challenges. This is one of the reasons why I wish to find and connect with new individuals via the Workaway :). I prefer to travel to remote locations and learn about new places through daily living there, rather than making holidays abroad. I traveled extensively during my last years of university for study exchanges and internships. I am looking to become a more informed, well-rounded, understanding person. I can see how much I changed from the moment I went on my first solo exchange abroad. It's fascinating to gain more experience and gradually be ready to take on greater and greater challenges, that I couldn't imagine myself doing a year or two ago. Observing this process is what motivates me to try expanding further and further and not settle, because it's fascinating to me that today I cannot conceive of the place I will be in within a year from now!

I'm deeply interested in the study of Natural Sciences. The dream of becoming a researcher one day is what orients my smaller scale endeavors and decisions. I am interested in everything that has to do with plant cultivation and biodiversity conservation. I graduated biology in 2022 as a BSc and viticulture and enology this year as a MSc (Eng).

My last two years of university went over a bit unconventionally - in large part remotely on individual study programs and study leaves. It was an adventure! I completed my last semester during an internship on the other side of the world, literally, in the USA. I was in Poland for three months in the beginning of this year, when I could do research for my thesis and then again left for Slovenia for a month for scholarship. In July I visited Czech Republic for short Erasmus+ exchange. I'm wondering how the largest progress breakthroughs in my thesis happened also during those busy times abroad, also including the last steps of submission and preparation for defense. Already then, from June 30th and throughout all of this year's summer I have been an Erasmus+ trainee at a permaculture operation in Austria, going back to Poland only for a few days in July for my master's thesis defense.

From October to December I have a new exciting adventure, which is Erasmus+ traineeship at BOKU University in Austria. Inspired by my current host who can be I wish to stay at a Workaway during this time.

I can contribute advanced skills in plant and garden care. I am very good with plant recognition, pruning, repotting, planting, sowing, growing mushrooms. I appreciate tasks involving garden maintenance: weeding, raking, watering. I am very familiar with several methods of produce processing and preservation: lactic fermentation, alcoholic fermentation, acetic fermentation, dehydration. I'd love to have an opportunity to help with crafts projects: sewing, crocheting, soapmaking, embroidery. I perform well at tasks involving technical skills and the use of tools, such as painting, small construction and fixing projects. I also wish to have an opportunity to help care for animals - pets and livestock.

I wish to improve my German and begin to study Spanish in the future.

In my free time I like to write, play board games, read, go for bike rides or walks. I appreciate the countryside and wilderness, evenings at a bonfire, foraging for mushrooms and mountain hikes.

I hope to find a place where I can help with garden/farm and crafts projects close to Vienna in the fall and winter of 2025. I wish for a great time together, let's connect!
