Hi there, planet workaway! (french below)

We're a couple from Switzerland, but we're french, belgian and spanish as well ;)
We quit our jobs at the beginning of 2025 and are on the way for a one-year hike including a couple of "wwoof/workaway" stays to learn new skills and meet new people. We started our journey on february near Porto (Portugal) and want to walk up until Belgium.

We love gardening, growing vegetables and would like to improve our knowledge on this topic, especially permaculture techniques. We are also interested in cooking and would love learning about cheese or wine making. Marion is a lifetime horse rider, so she knows how to take care of them and we both enjoy the company of any kind of animals. We are also journalists (TV and written press) so we can give a hand on writing pieces or filming/ movie making. Hugo also used to work on building sites during the summer.

During our freetime we share a passion for hiking and inventing our future movies ;) Hugo likes to play cards and talk about politics, building a new world! Marion likes running, practicing yoga, writing & photography. It's necessary for her to keep close to animals. We're both curious about knowing people and their life "path", discovering other cultural traits, cuisine and so on.

We're primarily searching for calm places, next to the nature (to go on daily adventures!), with people who have work to give but also time to share their passions and culture with us, and teach us their skills. We will only be travelling on foot and by train so we'll look for places next to public transports, or for hosts who can pick us up.

We speak fluently french and english, Marion speaks italian (even though it starts being a little dusty) and we both understand and speak a little spanish and german.

Bonjour, planète workaway !

Nous sommes un couple suisse mais nous sommes aussi français, belges et espagnols ;)
Nous avons quitté nos emplois au début de l'année 2025 et partons pour une randonnée à pied d'un an incluant quelques séjours "wwoof/workaway" pour apprendre de nouvelles choses et rencontrer de nouvelles personnes. Nous avons commencé notre voyage en février près de Porto et voulons remonter l'Europe jusqu'en Belgique.

Nous aimons le jardinage et aimerions améliorer nos connaissances dans ce domaine, en particulier les techniques de permaculture. Nous sommes également intéressés par la cuisine et adorerions connaître les étapes de fabrication du fromage ou du vin. Marion a toujours fait de l'équitation et côtoyé des chevaux, elle sait donc comment s'en occuper et nous apprécions tous les deux la compagnie de toutes sortes d'animaux. Nous sommes également journalistes (télévision et presse écrite) et nous pouvons donc donner un coup de main pour la rédaction d'articles ou la réalisation de films.

Pendant notre temps libre, nous partageons une passion pour la randonnée et l'imagination de nos futurs films ;) Hugo aime jouer aux cartes et parler politique (construire un nouveau monde !). Marion aime courir, faire du yoga, écrire… Il est nécessaire pour elle de rester proche des animaux. Nous sommes tous les deux curieux de connaître les gens et leur "chemin" de vie, de découvrir d'autres traits culturels etc.

Nous recherchons avant tout des endroits calmes, proches de la nature (pour partir à l'aventure tous les jours !), avec des gens qui ont du travail à donner mais aussi du temps pour partager leurs passions et leur culture avec nous, et nous enseigner leurs compétences. Nous ne voyagerons qu'à pied, donc nous chercherons des lieux proches des transports publics, ou des hôtes prêt.es à venir nous prendre.

Nous parlons tous les deux français (langue maternelle), anglais, Marion parle encore un peu italien et nous comprenons tous les deux la base de l'espagnol et de l'allemand.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Overall, I've been studying communication and anthropology before going for a Master's degree in journalism. But here are my practical skills:

- horse care and riding: I'm a horse rider since I'm 7 and I've already had a workaway experience taking care of a herd of spanish horses. I don't necessarily look for a place to ride but I know how to handle horses and I enjoy the daily work related to them (feeding, cleaning stables, leading them outside..)
- gardening : for three years now we've been gardening at home and I'm used to prepare the soil, planting, cutting, harvesting... and I'd love to learn more!
- medias/journalism: my job is journalist (written press and tv) so I can share anything related to this knowledge. I'm also a tv reporter so I know how to film and edit. With Hugo, we've just released a short documentary about wool valuation. It's been selected by a festival, we can show it to you if you need an example of our work.
- french teaching: I've been teaching french as a foreign language when I was at University and I like it. I can still share the basics and exercise conversation with anybody.
