Hi guys !
After 10 years working, backpacking and woofing around france and abroad, I moved to the Basque Country in 2015 with the idea of setting up a small organic farm.
Unable to find land in the desired area, I put the project on hold and acquired a large house to renovate 5 years ago.
3 years ago, I was lucky enough to find some land in my village that people were willing to lend me and the adventure began !
I am taking over an orchard of 300 apple trees (6500 m2) that I have been restoring since 2021.
Since this year, I have also been lent a field (5000 m2) which I am preparing to plant Small Fruits and Aromatic and Medicinal Plants.
My house is located on 4000 m2 of land in Sare. I live there with my 4-year-old daughter Leiane, my partener Jérôme (part of the week), my dog Jaya and my cat Ninette.
At the moment I'm hosting a friend Chris with his 2 dogs and his chicken in my truck set up on the garden.
The area is really very nice, the village (2500 people) is lively and very close (15 min walk) with all comodities (minimarket, bakery, butcher, post office, pharmacy, ATM, several bars and restaurants).

CHERCHE COUP DE MAIN POUR LA DERNIERE LIGNE DROITE DE MON PROJET AU PAYS BASQUE
Bonjour à tous !
Ancienne saisonnière, backpackeuse et woofeuse, j’ai posé mes valises aux Pays Basque en 2015 avec dans l’idée de monter une petite ferme biologique.
Ne trouvant pas de terres dans le secteur voulu, j’ai mis le projet en standby et acquis une grande maison à rénover il y a 5 ans.
Il y a 3 ans, j’ai la chance de trouver dans mon village quelques terres que l’on veut bien me prêter et l’aventure commence !
Je reprends un verger de 300 pommiers (6500 m2) que je restaure depuis 2021.
On me prête en plus depuis cette année une parcelle (5000 m2) que je prépare pour y planter des Petits Fruits et des Plantes Aromatiques et Medicinales.
Ma maison se trouve sur un terrain 4000 m2 à Sare. J’y vis avec ma fille Leiane de 4 ans (1 semaine sur 2), mon chéri Jérôme (une partie de la semaine), ma chienne Jaya et mon chat.
En ce moment j’héberge un ami Chris avec ses 2 chiennes et sa poule dans mon camion aménagé sur le terrain.
Le secteur est vraiment très chouette, le village (2500 habitants) est vivant et très proche (15 min à pied) avec toutes les commodités (superette, boulangerie, boucher, poste, pharmacie, distributeur, plusieurs bars et restaurants).

SARE is a typical Basque village and there are many events around this culture.
My daughter goes to “Ikastola” (Basque school), speaks “Euskara” and I am learning.
I am bilingual in English, I also speak and understand Spanish.
Jérome and Chris speak Spanish very well.
I would be happy to chat with you in one language or another and ti teach you a bit of french/euskara
I have acquired quite a bit of knowledge in organic farming, gardening, DIY and I will be delighted to share with you what I know. But I still have a lot to learn and I like the exchange and to learn from others !

Sare est un village typique basque et il y beaucoup d’évènements autour de cette culture.
Ma fille va à l’Ikastola (école basque), parle l’« Euskara » et je suis en train d’apprendre.
Je suis bilingue anglais, je parle et comprends aussi l’espagnol.
Jérome et Chris parlent très bien espagnol.
Je serai ravi d’échanger avec vous dans une langue ou une autre !
J’ai acquis pas mal de connaissances en agriculture biologique, jardinage, bricolage et je serai ravi de partager avec vous ce que je sais. Mais j’ai encore beaucoup à apprendre et j’aime l’échange !

Arbeit
IMPORTANT: Sorry men, for the moment, given the configuration of the place and that I live alone with my daughter most of the time, I only welcome women or possibly couples.
At the moment, I need help at home with :
- building the processing workshop and the plant dryer to process apples, small fruits, médicanal plants
- gradually expanding the vegetable garden/maintain the land
- seting up a 60 m2 greenhouse
- continuing the improvement work in the house, the camper truck
Generally, it's quite physical, so you need to be in good shape and like DIY/gardening/creation/recycling
You will participate for 20-25 hours per week, 5 days/week.
Schedules to be adjusted according to your preferences and the weather...

IMPORTANT : Désolée messieurs, pour l’instant, vu la configuration des lieux et que j’habite seule avec ma fille la plupart du temps, je n'accueille que des femmes ou éventuellement des couples.
En ce moment, c’est à la maison que j’ai besoin d’aide pour :
- construire l’atelier de transformation et le séchoir à plantes afin transformer les pommes, les petits fruits, les plantes médicinales
- agrandir petit à petit le potager/entretenir le terrain
- monter une serre de 60 m2
- continuer les travaux d’amélioration dans la maison, le camion aménagé
D’une manière générale, c'est assez physique, donc il faut être en bonne forme et aimer le bricolage/le jardinage/la création/la récup
Vous participerez à raison de 20-25h sur la semaine, 5 jours/semaine.

Unterkunft
You will have a room in the house.
I remind you that the house is under construction, it is completely habitable and functional but not finished at all.
We prepare and eat meals together, mainly vegetarian and organic with a little meat and fish regularly.

Vous aurez une chambre dans la maison.
Je rappelle que la maison est en travaux, c’est tout à fait habitable et fonctionnel mais pas fini du tout.
On prépare et prend les repas ensemble, principalement végétariens et bio et/ou local avec un peu de viande et de poisson régulièrement.

We can organize the working time as best as possible so that you can enjoy you free time !
We are at the foot of the mountains, there are beautiful hikes to do, the ocean 30 min by car, Bayonne/Biarritz 40 min, Spain 5 min.
Bus departure from the village for Saint Jean de Luz and other villages.
We can advise you based on what you want to do and you will be welcome during our outings.
Since I can no longer travel very far (or for long) at the moment, I'm happy to welcome people from here and abroad, backpackers, it makes me feel like I'm traveling a little!
We have 2 small campervans and we leave as soon as possible on weekends, even just one night, to camp in the area. We will be happy to take you if you wish!
We are also fan of Slack Line, hiking, aperitifs and barbecues :-)

On pourra organiser le temps de travail au mieux pour que vous puissiez profitez au maximum !
Nous sommes aux pieds des montagnes, Il y a de belles randonnées à faire, l'océan à 30min en voiture, Bayonne/Biarritz à 40 min, l'Espagne à 5 km.
Départ de bus du village pour Saint Jean de Luz et autres villages.
On pourra vous conseiller en fonction de ce que vous voulez faire et vous serez les bienvenus lors de nos sorties.
Ne pouvant plus partir vadrouiller très loin (ni longtemps) pour le moment, je suis contente d’accueillir des gens d’ici et d’ailleurs, ça me donne l’impression de voyager un peu !
On a 2 petits fourgons aménagés et on part dès que possible les WE, même juste une nuit, camper dans le secteur. On se fera un plaisir de vous emmener si vous le souhaitez !
On est aussi adepte de Slack Line, de rando, d’apéros et de bbq :-)
