Beschreibung

67 years young, healthy female with an active mind, an open heart, and two capable helping hands. I retired in April 2025 and finally decided to travel this year (2026). Workaway was a bonus when I discovered it because I still like to work so can now have a pupose when I travel!
About me...I'm still searching for my dharma, but feel most at peace when I'm working with my hands, completing a task, and/or can be outdoors and in nature. I'm university-trained in medicine and had a short term career but left to pursue other ideas and dreams; had a few adventures along the way - army hospital healthcare provider in Texas; art gallery manager in Alaska; volunteer at a farm animal sanctuary in Wisconsin; student participant on a medical mission to El Salvador; counselor at a camp for children with cancer in California; as well as a lifetime of other jobs (animal care and welfare, human healthcare, office, retail, housekeeping, garden center, hospitality, tourism, warehouse - to name a few :).
I tried to make a difference in my own small way (great customer service, cleaning/organization, advocacy for better health/working conditions, a helping hand to those in need, courtesy/kindness, etc). I'm adaptable, capable, and resourceful and like variety and learning new things as well as seeing new places. I enjoy physical labor and the satisfaction of completing projects - cleaning and organizing, caring for animals, sewing, kitchen help ( no cooking), painting, light garden maintenance or carpentry, (no au pair work), etc. I am comfortable using hand and garden tools and can drive just about anything (but only have a U.S. driver's license); I eat a plant-based diet especially for moral reasons (Imlike animals toomuch to eat them) but also to stay healthy. I try to stay active and fit by walking and bicycling. I like old things and helping to preserve them - people, clothing, trees, cars, buildings, antiques, etc - and I love to create something from nothing. I live a simple, tech-free (as much as possible), old-school lifestyle - no TV, microwave, dishwasher, limited phone/computer use, minimal eating, connecting daily with the natural world, etc. I enjoy hard work when its required but I also enjoy time to relax and take in the world around me. As a senior,it's important tome to have y own bedroom and bathroom, and to have quiet time in the evenings.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I'm great at organizing and cleaning (or culling). I find physical labor to be it's own reward and like working with my hands in any capacity. I love working with animals (experience: work as a veterinary assistant, at an animal shelter, hired hand on a dairy farm - all when I was much younger) and helping others who are truly in need (elderly, sick, etc). I'm mature, compassionate, and congenial but generally enjoy quiet people/places/spaces, and especially love to be in and around nature and animals for their beauty and serenity. I use hand tools well, and enjoy routine work and general maintenance. I'm a good housekeeper and like things neat and tidy. I have no problem with animal care and clean-up. Good communicator. Reliable.
