Beschreibung

Hi! I’m Lotta — an enthusiastic, hands-on, heart-led person who loves learning, growing, and sharing. If I had an Amerindian name, it would be “Spark of Life”, because I love igniting ideas, projects, and help people grow. Friends say I bring energy and inspiration wherever I go!

I love nature, gardening, singing & playing piano, sunrises & sunsets, meaningful conversations – I’m a trained NLP Life coach - and my family more than anything. I’m endlessly curious and always open to new experiences — whether that’s upcycling, trying a new gardening method, or experimenting with vegan recipes in the kitchen.

My Journey
I grew up on a farm in Sweden surrounded by animals and forests, so a connection to nature has always been part of my life. After meeting my Irish husband in Toulouse, France, I decided to stay — and we now have two grown sons. We’re a multilingual family and switch between French, English and Swedish depending on the mood!

In 1998, we bought a 2.5-hectare farm in the countryside south of Toulouse. We both left our careers in engineering to transform the property into an eco-friendly wedding venue. Every step has been guided by sustainability:
• Natural gardening without chemicals
• Rainwater harvesting
• Reusing materials creatively

During Covid, we finally had time to start our permaculture vegetable garden. Inspired by food forests, we planted over 40 fruit trees along with berries and perennials — and the project continues!

Our growing awareness about sustainability also led us to question what we eat. After a vegetarian challenge in 2016, we transitioned to a fully vegan lifestyle in 2017. I now share plant-based recipes on my website www.jailapatate.fr to show that vegan food can be delicious, nutritional, colorful and fun.

Why I’m on Workaway
Our long-term dream is to make our home fully self-sufficient in food, heating, electricity and water — and eventually teach others through workshops.
That’s why I’m here: I want to learn from others who live simply, sustainably, and creatively. I’m especially interested in:
• Permaculture & regenerative farming
• Eco-building and off-grid systems
• Food forests & seed saving
• Sustainable living skills

I travel alone; my husband stays at home taking care of our two dogs, a little cat, and the garden.
