Helloooo dear hosts,

my name is Laila and I am an 19 years old German girl from Frankfurt. I finished high school in summer 2016 and took one year off.
In that year I went to Toronto, Canada and worked there as an Au-pair for 6 months and visited a language school to improve my English. In those 6 months, I became so much more independent and learned a lot. Not only for living on my own, but the fact that I had to take care of two amazing kids helped me so much. At the beginning, I was literally the worst cooker haha, because the only thing I could cook for the kids was pasta. But because I had to cook and run a household, I finally discovered cooking for me as well. Now, I can´t imagine my life anymore without trying new recipes, especially vegetarian and vegan recipes!
I had an amazing time in Canada, especially with the kids and would love to do something with children in the near future again.
When I returned, I traveled to different places in Europe, for example Portugal, Spain, France and England.

Since I traveled so much and gained so many insights into different cultures, I decided to study international culture and business near Munich. Basically, I am learning all about economics and business, but in addition, my study field is also about cultures, how to communicate between different cultures etc. and I'm also improving my English and French. So far, I'm loving my study field and feel like my knowledge is expanding every day so much.

What else can I tell you about myself? I guess my friends and family would describe me as an openminded, joyful and creative person. I love to try out new things, especially when it comes to traveling. I'm used to travel a lot with my family, and we love to visit new places, particularly in Europe. We love to go to Spain, Italy, Portugal, but we also traveled a couple of times to North America. Now it's my time to see other parts of the world, for me, Asia is really tempting and interesting. I really wish to get to know Asian culture better, as I already heard so many interesting things about it. Except traveling, I am really into photography!

I hope you got to know me a little bit better now. I am really looking forward meeting you, gaining new experiences and learning for life. Hope to hear from you soon.

Laila & Filipa were super friendly, cooperative, and funny.
They were so helpfull, and cheerfull.
They like to help us in any Job. We also sad for the dogs, but the dogs are not ours, we only serve the dogs cage.
and now they dogs already moved to somewhere else, wich have a larger place. So its better now.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Learn how coffee is made and ...)

I don’t even know where to start, but let me just begin by saying that we had such a great and unforgettable time here at the coffee farm.

When we arrived, Filipa and I were really astonished by the nature and the whole surrounding. So many palm trees and right next to the plantation, theres literally a jungle spreading over many hectors. We… read more were actually allowed to drive ATV´s, which are like squads. Or one time we drove with Wima trhough the jungle with a jeep, which was so fun.

Concerning our tasks, we didn’t really have much to do. Id say our main task was to actutally take pictures with the tourists. It was sometimes a bit exhausting because you always had to smile, but not anything I would complain about. Besides that, we sometimes worked in the cafe, serving the tourists or just filling coffee in packages. (By the way, we learned so much about coffee, and we were also able to drink as much coffee as we wanted)

Another task was walking the dogs. The coffee farm has 7 huskies. I must say that that was the only task I didn’t feel that comfortable with, because the dogs are held in a small cage and are thereful quite energetic when u take tthem out for a walk. It was sometimes quite challenging, so u shouldn’t be afraid of dogs. Still, we would invite/ask u to walk the dogs on a daily basis, because otherwise no one really takes care of them. Its not really the fault of the coffee farm but more just a cultural thing, but still I would have wished for a better care of the animals…

Besides that, the people were soooo kind. Whenever we needed help, they were there to help us. We also learned so much about the Indonesian culture. Especially Wima is so cultivated. One evening, he was playing anthems of so many countries which was so impressive.

Okay I guess I must come to an end soon otherwise no ones going to read that text haha. Well, concernings the rooms and the food, u shouldn’t be expecting anything spectacular, its really basic. Theres not a real shower, only a basket, but it was actually quite fun at the end haha. We had rice 3 times a day, which we got used to pretty fast, but I can’t lie that I was happy when we had other food again:D

all in all, I can only recommend this place, if you’re looking for a place with awesome people and want to have fun and learn something about the Indonesian culture.
