I’m planning traveling through South America, mainly Chile, Peru, Ecuador & Bolivia. I’m into mountains, hiking, camping, adventures, and surfing whenever I get the chance.

Hello everyone in the Workaway community!

My name's Katja, and I'm from Germany. I've been traveling and living abroad on and off since 2016. I really enjoy getting to know a country and its culture — not just seeing the sights, but experiencing everyday life, meeting people, and getting a sense of what life is really like there. That's why I prefer to travel for extended periods rather than just passing through. So far, I’ve spent two years in Australia, a little over a year in New Zealand, and almost three years in Canada, as well as a few months traveling around Southeast Asia.

One of the best parts of traveling for me is sharing experiences and forming genuine connections along the way.

I'm currently learning Spanish, but I'm still very much at the beginning. I'm looking forward to getting involved, learning new things, challenging myself, and making some great memories along the way.

I am a certified occupational therapist and I work as a therapist in Germany. Travelling has given me the opportunity to explore new kinds of work in different environments. Over the past few years, I have gained experience in various types of farm work (in the fields and in a factory), gardening, woodworking, building, working with tools, operating farm machinery, as well as working as a moving helper (for almost nine months) and in hospitality.

My hospitality experience includes working as a night auditor in hostels and hotels, day shifts at a surf camp, and housekeeping at different hotels. At one of them, I later became the manager of the housekeeping and laundry team.
