Hello hosts and fellow travellers,

I will be travelling for the first time to central and south America. I've been working on my Spanish for a few months now and would love any opportunity to practice.

About my trip; I'm a Philosophy undergrad at UBC, which is how I wound up planning this trip. I will first be staying in Guatemala with a group of students studying philosophy and political structures. I find questions about autonomy and power dynamics interesting, though my passion seems to be continually drawn to more epistemological questions - what it means to be human, how me make meaning, what is consciousness, etc.
Anywho, this is not paramount to my travelling plans. But to anyone who is also interested in deep and complex conversations, we would likely have a good time together.

I will be meeting my mom in early August to do all the touristy things, like hiking Machu Picchu. So I find myself with one months worth of free time in between my current plans.

I grew up on a farm and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty. In fact, I find that type of hard work to be refreshing and comforting. In my ideal world I would stay in one work away for 3 weeks so I can get into a bit of routine, in a place where I can spend a lot of time outdoors enjoying nature. I'm happy to work for a few hours every morning, and then spend my afternoons meandering, tying new foods, meeting locals, reading, swimming - or some variation of this schedule.

Those are most of my favourite activities and I'm looking forward to having a chunk of time where I can just read some books I've had on my to-read list for a while.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have a pretty diverse skillset and I'm always happy to learn new things.
Like I said, I did grow up on a farm, I have some experience caring for animals, and gardening. I also currently work part time in a JiuJitsu gym, that's a hobby that I spend a lot of time on, and it has put me in an environment where I'm often working with kids so I have some experience with childcare too, which I find to be fun and rewarding.
I also have some skill in photography. I spent 3 years travelling after high school during which time I brought my camera everywhere, so if you're in a situation where you have a business or social media account that you need pictures for I may be able to help with that, though I don't have much skill in the area of film making, only photography.
