Beschreibung

Hello! My name is Kaja and I'm from Poland. I’m currently living in Scotland, doing my master’s in Creative Writing at the University of Aberdeen. Before that, I got my bachelor’s in English literature in Warsaw, and most of my adult life I worked as an English teacher. My first workaway was in Conil de la Frontera, in Spain, where I worked as an au pair for three months. After that, I spent five months working on the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland, at an award-winning B&B An Riasc. Both of those were great learning experiences. I especially fell in love with the kind of work I did at An Riasc, which involved cooking, cleaning, welcoming and helping our guests, and some social media management. It felt good to move, connect with people, feed the guests and contribute to creating a safe, fun, clean space for everyone, while also getting a chance to get a little creative. After I finish my studies I would love to contribute somewhere in a similar way, and work with my hands, connect with people and share the best things I have to offer.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

During the summer of 2021 I was volunteering in a mountain shelter in Bieszczady Mountains, in Poland. I took care of our garden, chopped wood, prepared meals for the guests and cleaned the shelter. I also talked, and played with the guests and guests' children. Taking care of people and making sure they have good, care-free time is something that comes very naturally for me. I have also been horseriding and working with horses since I was 10 years old. In Spain, where I was working as an au pair, I taught English to two children. I have also been driving them to school, cleaning, cooking, and helping with small tasks. There, I practiced my Spanish and cooking skills. As a student of Creative Writing I love to take on projects where I get to write but I also like to express myself through photography and painting. This summer I hitchiked a sailboat to Norway during the Tall Ships Races in Aberdeen 2025, and spent 2 weeks working on it with my crew. I am always up for learning something new and I'm picking up things very quickly.
