Hola hola everyone :) We're happy you're here! Let us introduce ourselves:


JANNIS:

Hey :)) To be honest, I am not a person of big words but I wanna try my best to introduce myself to you. I am 23 years old and originated in Hessen, Germany. In March 2022 I left my home country following my inner voice and instinct that brought me back to Latin America (I did a one year Volunteering programm at a rural secondary school in Boyaca, Colombia - and I loved it). So I quit my studies (Theatre and Media) as well as my flat and bought a one way ticket to Panama. Since then I've been volunteering in hostels, on boats, at fincas, for a permaculture farm and an english institute. And I also found my passion for hitchhiking. Everything I wanted to do was traveling in an alternative & sustainable way, exploring South America from its most authentic sides… and WOW life gifted me way more than this… On my way I met so many beautiful people, people that helped, welcomed and accepted me just the way I am. I learned a lot from my hosts and crew
immensely with every new task and challenge. Furthermore I could finally open my heart for the divine spirit of nature which made spirituality become a part of my daily life. Almost everywhere I went I was surrounded by pure nature and animals - btw. I love to be with dogs. The Workaways I realized so far brought me to places far away from tourism and allowed me to explore them just the way I wanted. One of this places that will always have its place in my heart is the Sierra Nevada of Colombia, where I fell in love with the wonderful woman, who is now my girlfriend. I am deeply grateful for her company and all the beautiful adventures I could share with her since we decided to continue our journeys together. Traveling the continent of her home country is a passion we both share.

One activity I really love to do is challenging and feeling my body. For instance by doing physical work outside in nature, working out with my own body weight, practicing kundalini yoga & meditation etc. Furthermore i really like to do almost every sport that includes a ball, especially football. Further weaknesses (-passions) would be: animals, the mountains, hiking, camping, exploring isolated places, reading, deep conversations, karaoke nights, jugos naturales, buñuelos semi-funny jokes and my wonderful girlfriend.

* What Jess thinks about me:

Jannis is the most determined person I've known so far, he's a hard worker. There were people see problems he finds tons of solutions and he would say yes when it comes to help people. He's funny, really clever and caring. He's my safe place so I think anyone can enjoy his company! Also, he has the cutest Spanish you could ever heard :')


JESS:

I'm a 28 y/o Colombian who's in love with her home country. I'm a passionate psychologist. I truly enjoy listening and caring for other people. As I had worked as a volunteer with vulnerable groups affected by internal war and made a one year experience as an Au Pair in Germany, it complements perfectly with my career. Social work with communities is my favorite. I love serving to others especially when it comes to children. All this has taught me a lot about people and how to make them feel as welcome, safe and loved as possible.

I grew up at the coast so you already know that I love dancing and eating :) Since I was a child I was surrounded by animals. I consider them a huge part of my life so if you have any pets you already have my heart! I really enjoy writing, reading and meditating. Those are hobbies I can't live without. I've been working in hostels at unique and amazing places, which made me falling in love with nature and its wonders. The connection with other travelers while working made me realize even more my desire for traveling. For this reason I don't follow a specific way of living. I'm more like, let's see what life can give me. I like following my intuition, which has brought me here, and that's why you're reading this, so cheers for that! I believe you will find a helping hand with me. Bueno, to make the long story short, the most important thing to say is that right now I'm traveling and living with the love of my life and I couldn't ask for more!

*What Jannis thinks about me:

You will love her, maybe not the way I do but you will. She is one of the strongest personalities I met so far in my life. The light and love she is constantly sharing with every being around her is immense. You can tell how much she likes kids and animals when you see her fooling and playing around with them. In general, Jess cares a lot about her environment and especially the people living in it. She has a great sense for the work with traumatized individuals. Apart from that she is extremely helpful, intelligent, learns really fast and is always motivated to do so.

Jess is currently learning German and already has a really good understanding of the language. She speaks a perfect English and has experience with teaching it as a foreign language. Jannis is always trying to enhance Spanish skills (which by now is between intermediate and fluent) and could teach German and English.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We would consider ourselves as open minded and peaceful individuals always with a big hunger to learn new things.

Jannis grew up helping his dad from time to time with his small family business, a carpentry that mostly focuses on roof construction. This way he learned some manual skills and got a general and good understanding for wood and construction work. He would really like to enhance those skills during our travels. In general Jannis is a big DIY fan and enjoys to create and solve things with his own hands. Sometimes a simple idea (like a knot) can solve serious challenges which to him is always really impressive.

Jess has more than 5 years experience working as a receptionist in various hostels. She can easily babysit and take care of animals. Apart from that she enjoys getting her hands dirty in the garden! :')

Plus, she's a freelancer, she teaches personalized English classes were she integrate several psychology fundaments, like the cognitive behavioral theory and learning theory. Her moto: everyone can learn but we all do it differently, so she accompanied people to get over their fears while they learn a new language. And also she gives psychological counseling for those who need it.
