Beschreibung

Hi! I’m Cherry, a 20-year-old university student from China, currently studying Polymer Materials.
I enjoy travelling, but what interests me most is not simply visiting famous places. I like staying somewhere long enough to understand a little about how people actually live, eat, work and spend their everyday life. That’s one of the main reasons I use Workaway.
I’ve already had two Workaway experiences, in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, and both of them went really well. I received five-star reviews from both hosts, which I’m very happy about.
My experience in Penang was also quite practical. I helped at an accommodation with guest check-ins, front-desk registration and cleaning guest rooms, so I’m already familiar with the basic routine of hospitality work, including check-ins, check-outs, room cleaning and keeping things organized.
Cooking is another big part of my life. I’ve spent time learning Chinese cooking quite seriously, and I can make dishes from several different regional styles of Chinese cuisine. I’ve also cooked meals for group gatherings in private homes in many different cities in China. Cooking for other people is something I genuinely enjoy, so I’m always happy to share Chinese food with a host family or other volunteers.
I’m comfortable helping with everyday household tasks as well. Having already stayed with hosts through Workaway, I understand that living in someone else’s home means respecting their routines, privacy, house rules and shared spaces. I’m also comfortable managing my own daily life and adapting to a new environment.
I’m interested in cultural exchange and enjoy meeting people with very different backgrounds from mine. Besides Malaysia, I’ve also travelled to Osaka, Japan, and these experiences have made me even more interested in seeing places through local life rather than only through tourism.
My English is currently around IELTS 6.5 level. I’m doing a lot of English practice at the moment, especially speaking, listening, vocabulary and daily communication, and my goal is to reach around IELTS 7.5 in early 2027. I’m already comfortable with normal everyday conversations in English, and I’m continuing to improve.
I’m also comfortable with computers, internet tools and social media, and I’m usually happy to learn new practical tasks if a host shows me how things are done.
For me, a good Workaway experience is quite simple: help properly when there is work to do, respect the people and the home I’m staying in, and spend enough time together to learn something from each other.
I’m looking forward to meeting more people, sharing some Chinese food and culture, and experiencing everyday life in places that are new to me..

I can assemble computers and handle basic electrical repairs; if you have other needs, I’ll learn quickly. I have two self-built computers at home, which I use for learning programming and working with AI models.
