Beschreibung

We are a couple who met in South East Asia when we were both on seperate backpacking trips in 2019/2020. Since then we have been together for over 4 years and are now travelling through central and South America.

We have travelled for 3 months together so far on this trip and both of us would like to slow down, spend more time in locations and have more of a routine - all of which a Workaway job will help with.

See below for a section about each of us:

James:

I'm James, 30, from the UK and in order to do this year abroad, I was lucky enough to take a sabbatical from my job as a project manager in the nuclear industry.

I absolutely love to travel, meet new people, explore cultures and I feel like workaway will help me with all of this. My real passion for travel/backpacking started around 4 years ago when I first backpacked through SE Asia and ended up meeting my current girlfriend.

At home, I am passionate tennis player but also cycle and enjoy football. I spend a lot of time hiking, being in nature and borrowing my parents campervan when possible.

I've always grown up with pets (usually cats) but spent a lot of time with family dogs in the past.

Overall, I feel I am very suited to workaway because I am kind, easy going, honest and have years of experience in a real workplace with very high standards.

Ida:

I’m Ida, 25 from Germany and since I travelled around South East Asia 4 years ago i really found my passion about travelling, nature, animals and meeting new people.

Because of this, I decided to study social work to be in constant contact with people and especially with children. Working with children in any way brings the most joy in my life and I love to interact and play with them. I am most motivated when I see them smiling and laughing because the love they can give to everyone is incredible.

Besides working/interacting with people I found my peace in nature. The last 3 years I have lived in the Black Forest in Germany and really enjoyed my time there. I spent a lot of time hiking, running, swimming in lakes and skiing - I even completed my first two half marathons. Seeing the different seasons in the nature with all the different plants, trees and animals motivates me every time to spent more time out in nature.

I’m happy that I found a partner like James in my life, who can share most of my passions and interest in life. We love to travel around the world, exploring, hiking, finding viewpoints, cooking together and learning more about each other.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

James:
- Project management: I work as a project manager in the nuclear industry in my current job (currently on sabbatical)
- Property/rental accommodation: I own and rent out a property in my home town which I successfully run myself
- Working with young persons: I was the apprentice manager for a number of years at a large company and this involved looking after, training and resolving issues with young people. I also spent a lot of time in schools and at events encouraging young boys and girls to pursue a career in this industry
- Animals: I’ve always grown up with pets and my parents/grandma live on a small farm with cats, dog, chickens and sometimes sheep

Ida:
- Social Work: Last summer I finished my Bachelor degree as a Social Worker. During that time volunteered in a primary school to help kids who struggled to read. Since I’m 13 years old i often had jobs as a babysitter and love to interact and play with kids different ages.
- Sport: I grew up doing a lot of hiking with family and swimming in competitions. I also worked as a swim trainer for a couple of years.
- Restaurant/Hotel/Management: Since I’m 16 years old I worked in different Restaurants and Cafes. I also spent time working in a hotel at the reciption and learned different skills about hospitality. Last Summer I worked for 4 months as a manager of an ice cream shop/cafe and had to organize working shifts, food shopping and customer service.
- Animals: I grew up with pets (bunnys and guinea pigs) and always loved to be around them. In the future i would like to have my own little farm
