Beschreibung

My name is Jonathan Holzapfel, though most people call me Joni, I come from a small village near the northern German city of Rostock, called "Klein Grenz" though I've been going to school in Rostock. I love music (my choir was incredibly important to me and I love to play the piano), enjoy literature and movies and I am extremely passionate about animals. I also really like hiking. I am highly interested in volunteering for a year, between the end of my school and the start of University to pass the time doing something good and to do work with my own hands, also to learn that for my future. I believe cultural exchange is important and beautiful. My father often told me that having friends around the world means the world is your friend. I did an exchange with a French student and now close friend. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences in my whole life. I learned a lot and saw even more, but most importantly, I was welcomed into a a great circle of kind and caring people.

I enjoy spending time with my family, friends or animals. I love to spend time outside, look after and care for all sorts off animals and I really like creative activities as well as music.
I want to learn a lot of new things and improve the skills I already have.
Moreover I’m very interested in cultural exchange and getting to know new people :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Joni: I did my diploma from German school. My advanced-level-classes were English, Mathematics and Chemistry. I also took French and did an exchange in 10th grade. I love to make music and I took piano and singing lessons. I was in a choir too. Living in a small village with mostly old (farm) estates. I mostly have experience with helping our neighbours with animal care, repairing and constructing things and a bit of gardening, I sometimes did voluntary jobs for our community. I had two Ponys and know how to care for horses. I also enjoy craftsmanship, building and repairing quite a lot and aspire to develop new skills in that regard.

Marie: I graduated from high school in July 2025. My advanced courses were French and English, as I am very interested in languages.
With the “AbiBac” program, I have a German and a French school-leaving certificate and a confirmed C1 in French.
Furthermore I did in internship (two weeks, stayed with a host family) in France were I worked at an “Auchan” and got to learn more about the language and French culture.
In addition to school, I also played the harp and sang in several choirs.

In the summer, I used to work at my neighbor's wedding catering.
So I am experienced in dealing with large groups, teamwork, catering and bartending.

During my internship at the French supermarket “Auchan” I learned to work under time pressure and to coordinate well with a large team and to follow a rather monotonous work schedule.

Was noch ...

We are very interest in (making) music and like being creative. We love animals and like caring for them. We very much enjoy cooking (especially together). We also enjoy exploring new places, nature, cities etc.
