I live in a small rural village called Pennabilli (it) in which I’m part of a beautiful community, surrounded by the mountains on the border between the Italian regions of Emilia Romagna, Marche, and Tuscany.

My life and work is something I have chosen and continue to choose every day but I often feel the need to recharge my batteries and go and meet other worthwhile projects around the world. That is why I chose workaway because I think it is a great medium with which to travel and discover new things, learn from other realities, grow, and then bring back home what I have learned.

I am an educator, environmental hiking guide, cultural events curator and coordinator.
I have a lot of experience in group management, administration and planning of cultural activities, and communication through social media.

I love physical activities, building and making creative things, sorting, cooking and cleaning are activities I enjoy doing.
I love being in company, but I can also be alone.
I speak Italian, French and English, and I also enjoy experimenting with new languages.

I enjoy traveling, reading, exploring, walking, scuba diving, snorkeling and caving.

I’m founder of Chiocciola la casa del nomade APS a non-profit organization that brings together young people who have chosen the small rural village of Pennabilli as their habitat.

Here we are sharing tools, spaces and networks; we are experimenting with new ways of living in the mountains by starting collaborative projects, collecting stories, exploring places with children and adults, supporting public schools with projects and research, farming the land, fostering synergies with associations and other subjects of the territory, hosting artists and researchers, welcoming people with whom to share interests, ideas, opportunities, projects.

In my travel I am looking for places that can be inspirational for my everyday life, communities or people who are concerned with landscape, sustainability, environment, care, education, tourism.
Contexts in which I can share my skills, give me the opportunity to grow but also spend good time in good company doing activities such as scuba snorkeling hikes or other activities that activate my curiosity and desire for exploration and adventure.

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Help at a beach camp in ...)

I stayed here for 14 days in January 2024.

I had a very good time, in the very small camp in the shade of a towering tamarind tree and overlooking the sea, you will find in addition to Pj and his wife Jaja, their son Tosho, two girls Ana and Rak and two boys Ran and Bibi (not sure if I spelled their names right).

A small community that all day… read more long works to keep active both the tourist reception and catering business (for about ten customers at most per day) and the activity of Pj and other dive masters of accompanying marine dives.

Opposite is the reef of San Jose, with lots of coral, seaweed, naked shoals, fish and turtles...behind is the big road leading to Mabini, and a few minutes' walk by a lane that passes between houses one can easily reach the port of Anilao Mabini, where a small but colorful market is set up every morning.

During my time there, I had the opportunity to share my experience with three other girls who were doing like me workaway. My duties were general, space arrangement, cleaning and kitchen help. It was not easy at first to figure out what there was to do, and I often felt that I could have done more if only there had been a time of shared planning of the work to be done at the beginning of the week, which would have allowed me to organize my free time better as well.

Sometimes their desire to be flexible and leave a lot of autonomy to us workawayers turned into slight misunderstandings. But I always found willingness for dialogue. I am sure that Pj will slowly find a system to better organize the workaways' volunteer time so that they find their own role, giving more precise directions and leaving so that the workaways can better support his staff while still having the right time for recreation and/or other activities to discover the area.

I really liked the simplicity with which they make welcoming and the fact that their guests were mainly Filipinos, which allowed me to learn more about the culture and also get suggestions on other stops to visit on my trip.

I slept in a very comfortable dormitory with the other girls and always eaten very well and vegetarian (with a few exceptions).
The daily living space is very small and promiscuous you are always all together there are no private spaces except when you go into the bathroom or the sea. Sometimes I felt a little cramped but the sea helps. I was also able to do a few hours of my work remotely online because there is enough Internet to work on drives and make meet calls, but only in the common space and not in the rooms, so sometimes complicated to stay focused or in the other direction not to bother others present.

I was also able, at a very affordable price, to do some dives and take my Raid-recognized Explorer 30 course.
Pj is a very good dive instructor and I felt very safe with him, as well as learned many things.
Every day I could snorkel and if I wanted to use the sup board or canoes I could.

If you want to go to them and also visit a little bit of the surroundings I recommend you study the area first, I was not prepared and didn't see much except the very nearby areas.
