Hi everyone! I'm Irene, I'm 29 years old and I'm from Italy :)
I'm new to Workaway and I'm really excited to get started with this new experience!!

A little bit about me!
I'm an outgoing girl, who enjoys spending time among different types of people and laughing and learning together! I enjoy reading interesting books, especially about nature and sustainability 'cause I really care about the environment and I love learning new things and that's why I'm trying to set my life with an eco-approach. I love being in nature, traveling to learn new cultures, and meeting new people because I think that's a wonderful way to know better the world!

A little bit about my past!
After graduating high school I worked a variety of different jobs until I decided to further my education and attend a Pastry Academy 🎂🍪🧁 and that was the starting point of my career. However, lately, I understood that I was watching my life from the wrong perspective.

In the Summer of 2020, I attended a PDC (Permaculture Design Course) in Tuscany and that was where I had an epiphany! Those 2 weeks opened my eyes to a totally different way to see the world and gave me the inspiration to challenge myself, explore or just accept new parts of myself and change my life! To be honest I've always felt like something was wrong in my routine and after that experience, I began to understand better what I needed to change... It took me a couple of years to find the courage to do it and that's why I'm here now!

A little bit about my future!
So currently I'm working as a Pastry chef in my home town but my plan is to leave this position in Spring/Summer to pursue my goal: I'd like to travel for a while to allow myself to learn as much as possible about Permaculture, how to live sustainably, how to grow a vegetable garden and whatever else you would like to teach me!😊

I see this opportunity as a way to be reborn and build a new Irene!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

🍝 As you understood, to me food is a passion! That's why I love cooking and experimenting with recipes where I sometimes mix Italian traditional dishes and new ingredients! I'm an excellent baker and love making bread and pizza. If you would like I would love to show you!

🥐 After becoming certified as a pastry chef I worked in different luxury hotels around Italy (ex: Garda Lake and Elba Island) to gain personal and professional experience and meet new people.
In between these seasonal jobs, I also attended a Chocolate Academy in the North of Italy because I love chocolate 🍫 and I wanted to learn about it not just because of my curiosity but also to master it as a chef.
Thanks to my past educational experience I learned how to work in a team in different environments, to be precise and organized, and complete every assignment. These are skills I can provide and of course, I would love to prepare some desserts for you from scratch!

🌳 I was a Scout for several years and this experience made me love to live surrounded by nature, enjoying being outside without being afraid of getting dirty! ! 😆
I also gained some experience managing kids and playing with them

🌱I have taken courses in Permaculture design, Cobb building, and grew up supporting my family with their gardens. Whether with family, in my apartment, or helping out friends I have always felt a passion to learn and take part in the process of growing food. What I believe I can provide to you is a burning desire and passion to learn through my labor, more about gardening, harvesting, principles of permaculture, how to save and reuse water, and eco-building.


🐾 I really love animals and I'm willing to work with them if you have some! I had a little workshop with bees and I fell in love with them cause the way they set the colony is just amazing!🐝 So if you have some I would love to help you to learn more about them But I wouldn't mind helping you with any other animals!!

🔨 I like manual labour so whatever I can do to help you, just tell me and I'll do my best!

🎨 I'm really into pottery and ceramic stuff: It has been almost 5 years since I started and my "specialty" is working on the wheel! I really love it 😍 But since I was a child I've always liked to do ceative stuff and get my hands dirty with glue, paint... So if you have any kind of art project I would love to help you!!
