Tätigkeiten, die mich interessieren:

I work in my job till the end of october and then travel two weeks through croatia, montenegro and albania with a friend. After that I am open for everything and ready for staying where i can help :)

Hi! I’m Romy – an easy going, adventurous, and motivated traveler who loves discovering new places, people, and ways of life. I’d describe myself as curious and flexible, always ready to help and excited about new experiences – especially when animals or nature are involved! About 8 years ago I had my first Workaway experience in Australia, and now I’m happy to be back on the road.

Since I'm not the best at describing myself, I also asked a good friend of mine how she would do it. Here's what she said: “Romy is a very creative and open-minded person who’s easy to talk to about anything, great at telling funny stories, always helpful, imaginative, and up for spontaneous ideas. With her at the table, there’s always something interesting, deep, or funny to talk about.”

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I’m a trained kindergarten teacher with 7 years of experience working with children aged 3–6. I love working with kids and last year I also gave German lessons to an older student, which showed me how much I enjoy teaching older children as well.

I also have a lot of experience with dogs. Ten years ago, I trained our family dog and later completed a qualification as an dog trainer. Three years ago I adopted my shepherd mix “Ricki” from a shelter, and since then I’ve been able to put my knowledge into practice. I often look after several dogs at once and really enjoy it.

At home, my family has a small “hobby farm” with cats, chickens, horses, and dogs. I’m confident around horses, having had my own for 8 years, and I used to breed chickens. When my parents travel, I happily take care of the animals and the farm.

Right now we’re also renovating an old house together, where I help wherever I can. I wouldn’t call myself a skilled craftswoman, but I know how to use basic tools and I’m always eager to learn something new.

My family owns a small house on a secluded island where I spend a lot of time. Being there meant I had to learn how to handle our boat on my own – something I really enjoy now. Life by the sea has taught me a lot: depending on the weather, respecting nature, and finding solutions or fixing things whenever needed and also to accept help from others. I love sharing this time with others, but I also really value the quiet moments on my own.

In my free time, I love being creative – I’ve restored furniture, made my own pottery, experimented with cooking and fermenting, and I often help my dad with woodworking.

Was noch ...

I travel with my two dogs, Ricki and Berti, both are around 11 years old and seasoned travel companions. They are both rescue dogs from a shelter. They are easy-going, very relaxed most of the time, sleep a lot (especially when its hot) and are comfortable being left alone for several hours. Berti is very cuddly. They are generally friendly with other dogs and communicate well with them. But of course it depends on the situation and the other dog(s). Living on a farm with my parents, they are well-acquainted with chickens, horses, and cats.

I strive to be a responsible dog owner — cleaning up after my dogs goes without saying, and I make sure they don’t bother anyone so that everyone around us feels comfortable and safe. People often say they dońt "feel" that I have dogs because they are so chill, so they will not distract me from work ;)
