G’day Mate!
Our names are Hazel and Astrid and as you may have guessed, we are from Australia. More specifically, we are from the beautiful city of Sydney.
Having spent our adolescence in the city and recently graduated from high school, we are very eager to embark on our own adventures and to immerse ourselves in new environments outside of the comfort zone of urban life!

Throughout our friendship, we have bonded through our love for nature, animals and a shared curiousity. One of the biggest milestones in our friendship was a 6 day hike through Australian National Park in Canberra where we navigated our way with only a compass and a map at 15 years of age.

We are both very creative people who enjoy a range of leisurely and innovative activities within the Arts. Hazel studied both Art and Design throughout high school, achieving outstanding results, and has a specific passion for bio-materials. For her final project, Hazel created both clothing and different textiles out of algae, gelatine and kombucha, a sustainable alternative to fast-fashion!

Astrid has two dogs, Donnie and Ponyo, and Hazel has a cat named Maxine. We both have extensive experience with past pets, including sheep, ducks, rats, guinea pigs, budgerigars, stick insects and fish to name a few! At 15, Hazel completed work experience at a vet clinic, this placement entailed reception work, overseeing veterinary procedures and caring for the animals in the clinic. Having tended to her dog, Donnie, throughout her pregnancy, and subsequently nursing her pups into adulthood, Astrid has extensive experience with puppies and mother dogs.

Astrid has a sister 3 years younger than her named Odette. Hazel has a stepsister 5 years younger than her called Lucy. As older sisters, we are accustomed to being positive role models for our younger siblings and guiding them as they reach the milestones we have already experienced. As such, we understand the responsibility that comes with interacting with children, and, as a side note, we are lots of fun to play with!

To let you know a bit about our career interests, Astrid has accepted an offer at the University of Sydney to study a Bachelor of Law and Arts, commencing in 2027. Hazel is also enrolled to study a Bachelor of Design in Product Design at the University of Technology in 2027. Both of us are very excited to gain expertise in our areas of interest, but for now, we are more than happy to take a fresh breath of the world around us, and to maybe learn something new about ourselves along the way…
