Experienced Workawayers with kitchen, front of house and housekeeping skills, in Canada from January 2027.

We're Harry and Abi, a British couple who have been travelling and working together for three years. We're heading to Canada in January 2027 on open work permits and are currently travelling through Asia. We're looking for small teams and businesses where we can work as a pair for an extended stay and become part of the community.

We both stepped away from intense desk jobs to slow down and spend more time outside, and we've worked together in hospitality in Japan, New Zealand and Scotland, among other places. We recently ran a ski-season café together in a Japanese Onsen village. Before that, we spent time on a dairy farm in New Zealand and at the end of a gravel road at a remote lodge, so we know what small, remote teams are like and we're happy turning our hands to most things.

We're easy-going, self-sufficient, enjoy a good conversation over dinner and like the satisfaction of a good day's work. We're happy to muck in with whatever needs doing and want to get to know the way of life where you live.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Harry is a chef and baker. He has been sous chef at a remote wilderness lodge, cooked set menus and run solo services for small groups of guests, and baked in bakeries and cafés in Japan and Germany. He also has an engineering background and is pretty handy with maintenance and repairs, and he’s a bit overly obsessive about bread.

Abi is a front of house manager and barista. She has managed cafés, run front of house solo, served formal dinners, and worked in luxury lodge housekeeping. She has also worked as a pizza chef, and recently has been teaching English.

Between us, we can help with:

- Kitchen: breakfast, lunch and dinner service, baking and bread, pizza, prep
- Front of house: restaurant service, barista work, reception and guest care
- Housekeeping: cabins, rooms and laundry
- Maintenance, repairs and general practical jobs
- Gardening and cooking family meals

Was noch ...

We have open work permits valid until January 2029, so we can take paid work, and we’re happy to share resumes and references. We’re looking for paid work with accommodation, as a pair, and we’d like to stay for an extended period if it’s a good fit for both sides.

We love the outdoors and getting to know the places we live in. Abi studied Chemistry and speaks conversational Japanese, and Harry studied Product Design. We enjoy skiing, cycling, speciality coffee, home baking and dinner parties, and we like making friends in the communities we join.
