A warm HELLO to everyone!

My name is Franca and I am 23 years old. I experienced two amazing workaway projects in 2019 and I am very excited to be able to travel for a few weeks this year again! The memories of my last travels are still very present and I love to think about all the amazing people that I have met and who have inspired me.

It is wonderful to think about all the different paths that we can walk on throughout our life and how little decisions can bring so much happiness to us! It is brave to ”jump into cold water“ (a German saying) and do new things and I am very excited about the unknown waters that I will learn to swim in in the next couple years.

Since 2020 I live in Berlin. My time in this big city is exciting and I am thankful that I found my small cozy room in a flat with my four amazing closest friends, so I can rest after adventurous days in the city and feel at home there. I enjoy living together and share so much about life. I learned a lot all the time I lived together with strangers that became friends. I am a very communicative and social person and you will find me having conversations all night long and spending time together cooking. I don’t think I can imagine to live alone someday, it is just too much fun with others. Also, I love how I got more and more honest in my communication throughout my time living in my current flat with five people and I feel good with open and honest communication about needs and boundaries.

Right now my passion is my work. Last year I started working in a living group for teenagers with mental health issues and I would have never believed that I could find a job that gives me so much energy. I am exactly right there at the moment and I learn so much! In addition I am a part time student of psychology and maybe one day I will be a therapist. I love to be able to say that I found something that I want to get really good at and to put a lot of effort in this path.
Nonetheless I am looking forward to take a break this autumn and to travel. I am also looking forward to get out of the city for a while and live a bit slower, it can get pretty busy in my life at times and I miss having nature around.

I would love to find a project where I can improve my surfing skills! I love sports, especially outdoors, and I workout regularly. I also enjoy doing yoga and I am riding my bike almost every day. Spending time moving my body and feel all of my body is really important for me.

Hopefully we will get to know each other this year! I feel a lot of energy that I would love to use to support your project and I am excited to learn new things and to swim in new waters :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I am a qualified social worker with experiences in different social institutions. I worked with kids, with adults with disabilities and right now I work with teenagers. It is definitely my biggest interest to get to know people and support them in finding their own way and my social and emotional skills are strong. Throughout those jobs I had to be able to be really structured and to take responsibility for my decisions and other people and I think it helped me get more calm with myself and self-confident. Part of my job right now is also looking after the house where the teenagers live in, so I clean and organise things around the house and also cook dinner for them.

I have work experiences in a Food Truck making different kinds of dishes. I love cooking and how food and cooking can bring so much joy to people and create a community. Once a month I support a kitchen project here in Berlin where we cook dinner for around 100 people to donate the earnings for political causes. Cooking and helping to make space for everyone gives me a lot of energy and I love to get things done together and experiment with new ingredients.

In 2019 I worked as a receptionist in a surf hostel. I helped taking care of the common areas and did the check-ins and outs. I tried to create a welcoming atmosphere together with the other stuff and I enjoyed the work a lot. It was interesting to meet so many different people and being so close to the ocean made me happy every day of my stay there.

My flatmates would describe me as an organised person and I enjoy living in a clean and tidy space. And they would say that I am an open minded and passionate young woman and I am looking forward to try new things!
