Beschreibung

Hi! I’m Felix — a 35-year-old German currently living in beautiful Wānaka, New Zealand.
I’m an outdoors enthusiast with a big curiosity for people, places, and different ways of life. I love learning new skills, sharing stories, and helping out wherever I can. Workaway is my way of exploring the world more slowly and meaningfully while connecting with others.

I’m happiest when I’m outside and active. Over the years I’ve worked as a canyoning and climbing guide in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand and Iceland, and I enjoy pretty much anything that involves mountains, water or a bit of adventure. I’ve also completed several marathons, triathlons, half-marathons, and even an ultramarathon (Arrowtown Backyard Ultra) — so I’m comfortable with physical work and long days.

My professional background is quite varied:
-Canyoning & climbing guide
-Dispensing Optician / MSc Optometry & Vision Science
-Landscaping and forestry/lumberjack experience
-Husky farm volunteer in Iceland (4 weeks in 2018)
- experience in recycling and reusing

Currently working for Wastebusters, a non-profit recycling organisation in Wānaka
What all these experiences have in common is that they taught me to be reliable, adaptable, and calm. I enjoy both hands-on work and helping people, and I’m not afraid to get dirty, work hard, or learn from scratch.
In 2022 I walked the full Camino Francés in Spain and later published a book about the journey. That adventure reminded me how valuable human connection, humility, and shared experiences can be — and it’s exactly what I hope to continue through Workaway.
