Beschreibung

Hey there!

My name is Yuqiang (Elliot). I come from a mixed Chinese & Korean background. Raised in an open-minded family, I was sent to American international schools from kindergarten and have been learning and speaking English for over 18 years. This upbringing shaped me into an adventurous, open-hearted traveler with a deep passion for exploring the world and connecting with people from different cultures.

I attended high school in the United States and have been studying and working in Germany for over 3 years. My journey has taken me across China, South Korea, Japan, North America, and most parts of Europe. Traveling through countries such as France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Poland, Hungary, and Austria has given me a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and different ways of life.

I’ve been inspired by the Workaway philosophy since 2018 and have participated in projects in various places. Through these experiences, I’ve helped with language exchange, cleaning, cooking, renovations, website building, photography, and video creation. Each project has strengthened my practical skills while showing me how cultural exchange can lead to meaningful, positive change for both hosts and travelers.

🌍 My Workaway Experience 🌍

1. Preserving Tibetan Thangka Art (2019)
I spent three months in a Tibetan region of China immersing myself in local culture. I visited temples, interviewed residents and monks, communicated with cultural officers, and learned the basics of traditional Thangka painting. I created promotional videos and websites for Thangka sales, wrote product reports, and gave presentations at universities in different countries. This experience allowed me to build deep connections with the local community and gain a profound respect for their simple and mindful way of life.

2. Film Director & Editor – TOYO International Film Festival (Japan, 2021)
At the TOYO International Film Festival, I worked as a Film Director & Editor. My role included English script interpretation, directing actors from diverse cultural backgrounds, managing filming equipment, collaborating with editors on post-production, and maintaining clear communication with festival organizers.

3. Hostel Support – Switzerland (2023)
While doing Workaway at a hostel in Switzerland, I assisted with daily operations such as housekeeping, renovation, decoration, website development, and promotional video creation. Interacting with guests from around the world helped me sharpen my communication skills and gain insight into many different perspectives.

I’m a content creator who enjoys capturing real moments through photography and video. I love telling stories visually and preserving meaningful experiences through creative media.

I’m not interested in simply passing through places as a tourist—I want to live locally, participate in traditions, contribute where I can, and learn directly from the people around me. My goal is to build genuine connections, bridge cultures, and form long-lasting friendships.

I’m here with an open mind, a warm heart, and endless curiosity for the world.
