Hello! ☀️

I'm Elena, a26 years old Italian girl, recently graduated.
Before starting to enter the working life, I’m taking some time to volunteer with different Ngo s and gether more experiences, being at the same time able to travel.
I’m on this platform because I firmly believe that the best way to travel and get to know a different country is being in contact with the local communities, learning about different cultures and ways of life.

To describe a bit of myself I would say that:

I am in love with backpacker lifestyle. I'm a very open-minded and easy-going person..

I am very active and I love outdoor sports like rock climbing, surfing and hiking.

I love nature environment and I appreciate to live in remote places in contact with nature. I am plant enthusiast and I don't mind getting dirty working in the garden.

I really enjoy working or volunteering in an international environment in contact with people from different backgrounds. I’m an extroverted and social person, who loves sharing and being part of a group.

I have artistic soul- I enjoy all kinds or DIY and I like to get creative, in addition I participated several years in a theater group.

I’m quite experienced in workawaying , because I collected various skills and knowledge during my volunteering with the application world packers. I worked in an Eco farm in Itacare (Brazil) where I learned about permaculture, Woodworking and animal care. With workaway I volunteered in two hostels in Seville and Lisbon. Here I was mainly responsible for cleaning cooking and reception tasks, and in organizing activities for the guest. I love, getting to know people, understanding peopled and their different viewpoints, immersing myself into different culture, and therefore learning new skills.

I am very interested in social impact projects and can become very passionate about it. In fact as a social work graduate and, thanks to different experiences volunteering in NGOs that support refugees and migrants, I gathered multiple skills related to intercultural mediation, emotional intelligence and problem solving . I am used to work in a team, I am detail orientated and can follow directions and also take up the situation when needed

I want to direct my efforts, my emotions and my energy to team projects that favor the quality of life, of those who have had fewer opportunities. Focus on projects that promote respect for nature, promoting the use of renewable and efficient energy, , reuse, recycling and optimization of resources. To projects where value is given to people, intercultural exchanges, education, physical and mental awareness and wellbeing.

I find workaway and other volunteering opportunities a beautiful way to grow and get new skills. I consider myself an enthusiast learner and I put my whole heart in what I do. I like to experience local lifestyle, get to know local people- and of course other travelers too.

I can teach all the languages I already know : mainly French, Italian and Spanish where I am fluent at , and I had already experience teaching them . I would love to learn and practice more arabic, or words of also different languages I don t know. I am indeed a language lover :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

This are the main different skills I could acquire during my life, volunteer and work experiences:

-Household and cleaning tasks (experience gained working in two hostels)

-Bartending and waitress tasks (experience gained working in a caffe-bar as a waitress)

-Communication with clients/guests, dealing with check-in/out, problem solving, and design of webpage, advertising (experience in the reception of a hostel)

-Childcare (Experience gained during 2 years of babysitting work)

- Team work, problem solving, intercultural mediation, emotional intelligence, psychological by standing, giving language and arts classes (skills gained during my work as social worker with refugees and migrantsand during my master studies in Social Work)

- Organizing sportive and ludic activities, being responsible and guiding a group (Skills gained during my summer job in a sport campo for teenage)
- Farm working, woodwork, permaculture, animal general care and feeding, cleaning the animal shelters (skills gained during my volunteering in an Eco farm in Brazil)

- Bio construction, planning, and constructing and painting wooden houses (skill gained during my volunteer work with the NGO TETo in Salvador, Brazil)

- Producing Investigations, qualitative and quantitative research skills (Skills gained with numerous investigation and field work projects for my university)

-Creativity and art skills, like theater, painting, macramé

I also consider that different life experience have made of me an open-minded, pro-active, curious, solidary and extroverted person. So I would be happy to help out in any new , challenging capacity and I am eager to learn many new skills and be immersed into new cultures, as well as show my own skills and culture with the people I stay with. In a continuous process of sharing.

Other than this skills ,what I am passionate about is learning and speaking in different languages (currently learning Arabic), travelling ( mostly by hitchhiking and couch surfing, to gain a more local and truthful experience), playing instruments (I am new to learning to play djembe percussion, and guitar) I adore listening to music all the time and of all styles, going to museums, , going to parties, doing outdoor activities, , video games, eating and cooking ( mostly vegetarian and vegan food).

To add some of the week point I am conscious of and working on is a lack of attention and leadership skills, and a difficulty in organizing my life on a long term perspective and making concrete plans.
