Beschreibung

Hi! My name is Eddie! I'm originally from Lithuania, and over the past couple of years I've completely changed the direction of my life.

I used to work in a bank, but I wanted to experience more than an office routine. So I quit my job, packed my backpack, and moved to New Zealand with no real plan except to challenge myself, learn new skills, and see where the journey would take me.

Over the last 15 months in New Zealand I've worked in orchards, farms, hotels, and hospitality. I've learned practical skills, worked with people from all over the world, and discovered that I genuinely enjoy hands on work and being outdoors. It taught me resilience, adaptability, and that I'm happiest when every day looks a little different.

One of the most valuable experiences I had was living in a multicultural community in New Zealand for three months. Sharing daily life with people from different countries taught me how to communicate, respect different lifestyles, and be considerate when living and working with others. It made me much more open minded and showed me how rewarding cultural exchange can be.

My travels then took me to South Korea, where I volunteered for two weeks at a Buddhist monastery. It was a unique experience that taught me patience, mindfulness, and the value of slowing down. After that I spent a month in Nepal exploring the country's rich culture and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.

I'm naturally curious and love learning new things. Whether it's helping on a farm, gardening, painting, building something, cooking, looking after animals, or tackling a project I've never done before, I'm always happy to learn and give it my best effort. I don't mind getting my hands dirty, and I always try to bring a positive attitude and good energy wherever I go.

Outside of work, I enjoy photography, hiking, surfing, basketball, tennis, reading, and meeting people from different backgrounds. I'm currently started to learn Spanish.

This year I'll be starting a Leadership course on the Gold Coast, and before settling into study I'd love to experience more of Australia through Workaway. For me, volunteering isn't just about finding accommodation.. it's more about becoming part of a home, sharing stories, learning new skills, and making genuine connections.

One small note: I unfortunately lost access to my previous Workaway account, so my old references disappeared with it. I was able to save one screenshot of a host's feedback, which you can find near my profile photos. I hope it gives you a little extra confidence..
