    Generic Introduction:
I'm Dan Sturge, 18 years old, British, and looking to begin my next chapter in my life. Growing up in a costal town called Plymouth, I had quite a typical childhood for any boy in my generation. As I grew up though, I excelled massively in my education, being at the top of nearly all my classes - fortunately I had and still have a deep passion for learning which made school life easy. I also put large amounts of energy into my employment, working up to 40 hours a week on top of school work. Now, currently working in the USA at a summer camp, I'm broadening my life through travel and working in new environments, reducing my quite extreme work ethic to find the right work-life balance, and ultimately start living my life properly.

    Previous Experience:
I have a mixture of experience. For descriptions about my previous employments, I would check my skills on my profile. As for experience with travelling, I've been to a great number of countries in Europe whilst growing up, such as Italy, France, Iceland, Denmark, Spain, Greece and more. Then, once I hit 18 years old, I took my first ever solo trip to Dublin, Ireland. I also went with one friend of mine to both Latvia and Lithuania, and will soon be travelling alone to the United States.

    Current Travel Plans:
I'm currently working down in New Orleans for a month using WorkAway. After that, I'll return home to renew my passport before looking for somewhere to spend the next few months, either at home or abroad.

    Hobbies and Interests:
For the longest time, due to restraints from work and school, I've had incredibly limited free time, restricting my hobbies and passions. Now I intend to reignite those passions along side my travels. Five examples of these include:
My passion for writing, as I do hope in the next few years to finish writing a novel. By extension then, I do also do a lot of reading, both fiction and non-fiction.
Another hobby of mine includes my boxing, which I used to do twice a week but eventually had to stop: I can't wait to get back into that more energetic side of my life.
Learning languages, which in my life I've studied mainly German, Hebrew, Latin and Japanese.
Of course I have to mention travel, but more specifically I love engaging in and learning new cultures and conventions.
In my younger years I used to play guitar, which is something I one day hope to pick back up and improve on.

    Working with nature
    Cleaning
    Working with Children
    Simple Physical Labour
    Hospitality

In Depth Description of Work Experience:

Vaccine Centre Volunteering: This involved some simple tasks such as guiding people through the building and then using the online system to manage their bookings and verify their identities.

Student Housing Assistant: This involved going through paper work with people whilst also managing finances and ensuring payments had been processed

Working in Retail: This was a simple job in Poundland where I mainly stayed on the checkout, though I also helped stacked shelves, clean the store after it closed, set up the store before it opened.

    Fast food:
    - Kitchen Staff: I worked in a McDonalds for 5 months in the kitchens, making drinks, taking orders, handing out food and working with delivery drivers.
    - Lobby Staff: I was promoted in McDonalds, where I moved onto the front dining area for 10 months. This involved maintaining the stores hygiene, cleaning the whole dining area/ bathrooms / car park / staff room for the night shift, interacting with customers, dealing with complaints and more.

    Summer Camp Staff:
    - Bunk Councillor: This role refers to my responsibility of looking after a specific group children (boys aged 7-9) for two months. This included sleeping with the children, taking them to meals, taking them to activities, watching over them and engaging with them during rest hours and playtimes as well as ensuring they maintain hygiene by tracking their shower patterns and teeth brushing.
    - Activity Councillor: This role refers to my responsibility during the day times at camp, where I'd be teaching children aged 7-15, boys and girls, about different areas of nature. This included teaching about fire starting, hiking, fishing, nature science, orienteering and more.

    WorkAway:
    - New Orleans: I'm currently working in New Orleans on a WorkAway trip where I'm responsible for cleaning AirBNB apartments each day, as well as handling check in requests from guests and tending to any questions they have.

It is worth noting that one of my greatest passions is learning. I have no preference for topics, and it could be learning of any kind (skill-based learning, knowledge based learning, etc), but if a WorkAway destination has any opportunity to really explore something new then I'm much more likely to be excited.
