Hello! :)

After moving back to the UK from Germany in 2008, I've been living in Lincoln the whole time. I've completed school here, studied and graduated from university here, and been working remotely as a Marketing Consultant since graduating from my Film Production degree 2 years ago.

Despite growing fond of my life here with my friends and my family around me, I know that now is the right time to explore, take risks, and experience things completely outside of the norm that I've grown used to. The plan was always to see and experience new parts of the world after university, but I was drawn into a comfortable life with a stable job and apartment with one of my closest friends - it becomes tough to step away from all that!

I'm at a point in my life where I'm ready to go and experience different walks of life all across the world, and I simply can't wait to meet and build connections with new people along the way. :) It has just taken me a couple years to build the courage and take some risks!

I'd describe myself as quite an empathetic, enthusiastic and really friendly person. I love meeting new people and trying new things, and I feel like I'm in no way ready to settle down just yet! I have a lot of hobbies such as making music, training and competing in Jiu Jitsu, filmmaking, gaming, reading, and also all things wellness/mindfulness based!

I find a lot of joy in really embracing the present moment and putting all of my energy and passion into whatever I'm doing in that moment. Although I'll miss my family while travelling, I can't wait to bring stories home for them. :)

I've been working various part-time jobs since I was 16 years old, and have lately been working full time since graduating from university. Through all of this, I feel like I've developed a broad range of skills that I would love to exercise and also improve upon in my time away!

Job Experience:

(Part time roles)
- Hospitality
- Bartending (Head Bartender)
- Cleaning
- Admin

(Full time role at HubGem)
- Project management for large clients
- Implementing a CRM for various organisations

During my work as a full-time Marketing/CRM consultant, I feel like I've developed a set of skills which have really translated across all aspects of my life! To name some examples:

- Organisation (planning and implementing 6+ month projects for some huge clients)
- Confidence (delivering calls and training sessions - this used to be terrifying!)
- Problem Solving (it has essentially been my job to think of solutions to big problems on the fly!)
- Intra-personal Skills (although my role is very technical, I also primarily deal with people day to day)

Aside from all thing professional:

- I'm in good physical shape from all of my martial arts training, and I simply love to move!
- I love solving a good problem and putting my mind to something that someone else is struggling with
- I have weirdly good hand eye coordination, I suppose that could just be good motor skills haha!
- I love writing and studied English for my A Levels, so I would love to help teach this
- I'm super patient and understanding, and I think these are things which can translate across all aspects of life :)

Vom Workawayer () für Host (Beach Front in Powell River: ...)

I stayed with Holly and Daniel for three months, and let me just start by saying what an amazing time I had. Being my first ever workaway, there was definitely some worry and anxiety about the experience as a whole, but even from the first moments of video calling Holly before coming, I was instantly put at ease.

It's hard to summarise why I… read more enjoyed those three months so much, but I'll start by talking about the work itself. I primarily worked with Daniel, who is an absolute fountain of knowledge. The work was always extremely varied, and Daniel never failed to trust me with using new tools and completing big tasks by myself. His style of managing was perfect, and I feel that I have learned so much from him, while also gaining a huge new interest in anything DIY and woodworking related! I was able to work on a lot of projects that were both extremely satisfying and rewarding - it never felt like the work I was doing was in any way meaningless or boring. :)

Just before I came to Canada, Holly and Daniel informed me that they purchased a new house in Powell River and would be moving there about a month into my three month trip. They gave me multiple options on how to go forward with this, but I ultimately decided to go with them to Powell River for the final two months of the workaway to help them begin renovations on the house, and I'm so glad that I did. The road trip itself was a lot of fun, and something that I will always remember, but my time in Powell River itself is something I will always cherish.

While I didn't work too closely with Holly day to day, I spent a huge amount of time with them both. From the very moment Holly came to pick me up from the airport (at 1am!), she showed me nothing by kindness and warmth, always providing wonderful meals, wonderful stories, and most importantly, wonderful friendship. Holly is also insanely knowledgable in all things gardening and much more, we had so many interesting conversations about a huge range of topics, and developed a friendship that I think and hope will last a lifetime.

That will probably be my biggest takeaway from this entire experience. Although I loved the work and appreciate everything Holly and Daniel actively gave and provided for me, the thing I am most grateful for are the friendships I developed with them both. Whether it was meals out, watching fights together on the TV, trips out, or simply just sitting together in the evening and talking for hours, Holly and Daniel integrated me into their family, and that means more to me than any particular work experience ever could. I will greatly miss these two and my time spent with them, and I can't wait to see them again.

If you ever get the opportunity to do a workaway with Holly and Daniel, you are a lucky individual.:)
