Hi!

My name is Claire, I’m 23 years old and I'm on the lookout for new adventures!
I’ve been living in Canada since 2021, and it has been such a pleasure to discover this country and its particularities through travelling and volunteering.

I first came in Québec City for my studies. I've completed a bachelor's degree in Geography in 2024 , wich has been a challenging, but rewarding experience. Alongside my studies, I’ve also worked part-time in the community sector and in customer service. These experiences say a lot about who I am: I’m willing to learn, to care, and to understand other people with all my heart :)

What volunteering means to me?
Volunteering is such a big word which can be lived and understood in so many different ways. For me, volunteering is much more than simply helping with a few tasks in exchange for a place to stay. It’s about meeting people, discovering communities, sharing everyday life, and becoming part of a somewhere, even for a short time.
Being a volunteer is about engaging with all the little things that make up the essence of a place.It's about sharing life with others that we called "strangers", but only for so long. I love learning from people who have different lifestyles, beliefs, cultures, and ways of seeing the world. I see volunteering as an opportunity to step outside of what I know, contribute ina meaningful way, and build genuine connections.

I’m coming with an open mind, a lot of curiosity, and the desire to make myself useful while learning as much as I can. One thing I can promise during our time together is my willingness to understand and respect who you are, while sharing who I am.

So, who am I?
I grew up on a farm in France, and I’ve always loved working outdoors. Being outside brings me peace, keeps me grounded, and reminds me of who I am.
Through my childhood memories, work experiences, and studies in Geography, I’ve come to understand how important our connection with the environment and our communities is. This is definitely something I’m looking for in a volunteering experience.

I’ve always been driven by a strong desire to question the world, and search for the answers. Defining exactly who I am is no easy task, so instead of telling you, I’ll let your curiosity uncover the answer!

P.S.: My English is fluent, although not perfect. If you’re willing to help me improve my language skills, I would be grateful :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I wouldn’t say that I have any particular strong skills, but I’m eager to learn and help wherever I’m needed. I’m happy to discover new things and give almost anything a try. I’m not afraid of hard, physical, or messy work, and I actually enjoy learning through doing.

There are many things I naturally enjoy, such as cooking, working with wood, helping with customer service, or doing tasks that require patience and attention to detail. I also really enjoy being outdoors and doing anything related to the environment! I’m not especially looking for a volunteering experience where I only get to do what I already know or like. On the contrary, I’m interested in discovering new activities, learning new skills, and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Whatever needs to be done, I’ll be happy to give it a try and learn along the way!

My background in Geography could also be useful for projects involving mapping, data collection, research, or fieldwork, which I would be particularly excited to explore.

I have a car, I know it can be handy to have one!
I'm also very interested in learning sea kayak, it has been in my head for quite a while now (or just any kind of water sport!).
