ABOUT CHLOE!
I pride myself on being a warm, reliable and caring person who loves to share and learn. I am English, have a degree in Criminology, and spent a few years working in London. I have always loved travelling and wanted to find out more about the world. Two years ago, I had decided it was time to leave the UK for good and change my life - which started with seeing new places, helping others, and giving back to the planet. I love meeting new people, learning about culture and language, and I am true dog lover. I grew up gardening and am not at all afraid of manual labour - in fact I really do enjoy it. I also enjoy cooking and I consider myself respectful to everyone and everything around me. I'm a very calm person who enjoys that energy around me. I look for that family-feel and sense of community, as it is what makes me feel whole.

ABOUT SALVATORE (aka KELPIE)!
I am a hard-working, vibrant and calm person who moved to the UK in 2009. I am Italian and have been a professional musician for the past 15 years. I love to immerse myself in other cultures; my Mediterranean roots provide me with a deep love of good food, language, the sun and the sea. I am confident in manual labour and have learnt skills in woodwork, basic carpentry, power tools, etc. I am also a great lover of animals - especially dogs!

ABOUT US!
We have been together for the past six years and regard each other as soulmates - we got married in October 2023! We have been travelling full-time since February 2023 and have always had great experiences with WorkAway - we have made friends with all of our hosts and have re-visited several of them, having made true connections with them. One of our Canadian hosts even adopted our favourite puppy from a WorkAway we did at a dog rescue in Mexico - and we now spend summers working in Canada alongside that puppy! Kelpie and I have learnt a lot through WorkAway, ranging from gardening, landscaping, carpentry, woodwork, and animal care. We have the same outlook on life and are both calm, considerate, and funny characters who look for that sense of community. We are polite, respectful and pure in our intentions and we truly hope Workaway hosts are happy to take us on :)

Chloe and Kelpie came to help us early in the spring/summer 2023. They were wonderful to have here and worked hard at everything they were asked to do. They fit into our family life well and we’re a pleasure to have around.
We know they will be successful at whatever they go on to do!

Vom Workawayer () für Host (A cultural exchange, learning ...)

We will be forever grateful for our time with Melanie, Kevin. It was our first WorkAway experience, and we learnt so much in our five weeks there - we didn't want to leave! It truly became a new home and we miss it dearly. The work was varied enough and as long as you are meeting the hours and needs of the land and Farmer's Market, you have plenty… read more of time to explore beautiful Hana. During our stay, the work mainly consisted of weeding, landscaping, fencing, clearing the stream, building wooden frames for the car-port, painting, and cutting down the ample fruit that the aina bares. To work with the land can be rather physically demanding, especially in the tropical heat, so a good level of fitness is beneficial to the experience. Opening the coconuts every day for the chickens and ducks was always a cute task too! As well as this, we spent a lot of time helping to organise and clean the house, fix various things, and prepare the goodies (such as dried banana, coconut, starfruit, liliko'i butter, lemonade, and other juices) for the Farmer's Market which occurs every Friday. It is in a great location despite how remote the east side of Maui is - you get phone reception and are only 30-minutes' walk to some of the most stunning beaches. The cabin in which we stayed was also great, very comfortable with beautiful views over the stream and ranch. You quickly get used to the many geckos and the few spiders (which are harmless). We enjoyed several lovely dinners (wish I could still eat ulu everyday!!) with Melanie and Kevin who have great stories and warmth, we loved playing Yahtzee and jamming on the congas with them. Melanie was amazing at taking us to see some of the local sights such as the incredible Wailua Falls and Waioka Pond. We also got to spend the day in the super hipster town of Paia (about two hours away) which was really cool. This whole experience is perfect for those who want to switch-off, perhaps escape busier lives, to learn about native plants, Hawaiian traditions, and truly heal from the aina. We also bonded closely with the other WorkAwayers who were there, to which we have built a lifelong friendship with. It has been nothing short of a life-changing experience for us and so there will forever be a special place in our hearts for Melanie, Kevin, Archie, Kiko - and Maui as a whole. Lots of love from us and MAHALO!
