Beschreibung

Hi, we are Sophia and Theo, a British couple from London! Theo is an Architect and Sophia works in media and journalism but we are taking a year-long career break to travel and learn about new cultures.

We are keen explorers who are passionate about trying new things and both of us have experience living and working across the world.

I (Sophia) grew up in Australia and Singapore and moved to the UK recently so l have been lucky to see a lot of the world but I believe there is always more to see! Whilst at University I worked as an English teacher with young children throughout Italy, living with host families, and had the best time immersing myself in Italian culture and being welcomed into people's homes. It taught me how enriching and memorable cultural exchanges can be for volunteers and hosts alike.

I (Theo) have a passion for the creative arts. I do lots of drawing as part of my Architecture work and play a variety of instruments including with my band in London! During my architecture studies I worked in Portugal to complete an exciting local project. This project not only showed me how satisfying it is using your skills outside your home country but how it helps you make new friends and transcend language barriers.

We are big nature lovers and enjoy lots of hiking, swimming and have experience helping our grandparents with their gardens. This year we are also learning to surf! We think part of learning about a new culture is how people share food, one of our favourite things to do is cooking and sharing meals with our friends, socially. We both come from large families and are the eldest sibling so we understand how important it is to help around the house, and we know how to entertain and play with children!

I (Sophia) have studied Philosophy, so I like having conversations where I learn about new points of view and ways of thinking. I (Theo) love to sing, so if you want to play some music together, that would make me very happy :)

We really hope to provide one side of an exchange that is filled with fun, help and learning.

I (Sophia) have an English teaching qualification so would be happy to teach some English during my stay. We are also both interested in learning any conversational parts of a new language - particularly Japanese or Korean.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

We are both creative and practical, we know how to make ourselves useful! We have lots of experience planning and creating art and design projects. Theo is a trained Architect and Sophia has an Art & Design degree diploma alongside her Philosophy degree.

Theo is very proficient at handiwork and has experience using wood workshops. His job contains designing and building so these are areas of expertise!

As mentioned we both come from large families and have worked as child carers in the past. I (Sophia) have taught class sizes ranging from 12 to 30 students when I worked as a teacher. We know how to make games and have fun whilst being responsible :)

We are conscientious and love to cook together for others. We both love meeting new people and putting ourselves out there -you don't have to worry about us being shy! We can also entertain ourselves if necessary. Ultimately, we want to make ourselves useful and provide good company.

We are very open to learning new skills and expanding our existing knowledge of handy work, creative arts, gardening and different cuisines.

We both have dogs at home and really love animals. The animals we meet in new countries are frequently one of the best parts of our trip!
