We are Frances & Callum, a couple from the UK travelling in Brazil and Mexico.

UPdate: Our recent work away experience was helping to create an eco campsite. Together we built water towers, stripped trees for construction, added signs & artistic touches (eco art, natural pigment painting & crafts) to the place & generally enjoyed working and communicating in nature with local people.

We are looking to put our energy towards something bigger than ourselves such as community and the environment. We think workaway is a good way of doing this as staying in a location for a longer period of time provides more opportunity to assimilate with local culture and learn about what we can give back.

Frances has recently completed a biological conservation project in the Brazilian Atlantic Rainforest. Here she planted endangered palm trees, carried out species inventories and painted a mural on a local bus stop to promote the conservation of bioluminescent mushrooms actively being discovered on the reserve. Since then we have done many long bus journeys through Brazil and made our way to Mexico.

We love all things environmental, spiritual and connecting with others. Learning along the way and giving back what we can with our knowledge, unique skills and work ethic.

Frances is an artist and Geography teacher, and would love to use art as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of conserving the environment. She loves wild swimming, discovering more about our world and getting the most out of life.

Callum is project manager, but an engineer at heart. He’s looking for an opportunity to practice his Spanish and build or maintain a project with conservation at its heart, and meet some cool people along the way. Callum loves hiking, gyming and expanding his mind.

We’re exciting for new opportunities, to meet new people and put our energy back into the world!

Nature and sustainability have always been close to my heart, and I'm thrilled to offer my skills to make a meaningful impact on your project. Gardening is my passion, and there's nothing more rewarding than transforming a piece of land into a thriving green oasis. From nurturing plants to understanding their unique needs, I take pride in bringing life and beauty to every garden I work on.

My strength and experience in heavy lifting and construction come in handy when tackling physically demanding tasks. Whether it's setting up structures or carrying heavy loads, I'm up for the challenge and ensure every project is completed with precision and care.

But it's not just about the work; it's about the people too. With my deep understanding of human psychology and excellent team management skills, I create a collaborative and supportive environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to contribute their best.

I have a creative side as an audio-visual engineer. I love setting up captivating visual displays and crafting immersive soundscapes that add an artistic touch to any event or project.

I speak English and basic Spanish and am looking for opportunities to improve my Spanish.

Hey there, I'm Frances, your all-in-one creative volunteer!

As a multi-disciplinary artist, illustrator, and digital painter, I bring a burst of creativity to every project I'm involved in. My passion for art spills over into everything I do, adding a touch of imagination and flair to every task. I also have vast experience with photography, textiles, printmaking, Shibori natural dye work amongst other disciplines. You can see my artwork on my website www.FrancesIbbotson.co.uk

Beyond the canvas, I have a knack for teaching Geography, making complex subjects approachable and engaging for learners. Sharing knowledge is a true joy, and I thrive on inspiring others to explore the world around them. I also taught English in Barcelona for three years, both in school and in private lessons which was extremely rewarding!

As a keen environmentalist, I firmly believe that supporting ecosystems is not only essential but also profoundly rewarding. Living in harmony with nature allows us to harness the power of natural processes to combat environmental challenges. Having a keen interest in plant medicine, I recognise the immense potential of botanical remedies in healing both the planet and ourselves. Embracing plant-based solutions nurtures a profound connection with nature, empowering us and promoting a sustainable coexistence with our world.

When I'm not unleashing my artistic side or enabling young learners, you might find me in the kitchen, whipping up something tasty. I love to experiment with flavours and create delightful culinary experiences, especially with homegrown, locally sourced ingredients!

Nature has always been my playground, and my inner nature nerd is in constant awe of the great outdoors. My degree in 3D design, specializing in woodwork and ceramics, allows me to create not just on paper, but with my hands too. There's something magical about crafting tangible pieces from raw materials.

With experience in event management and stewarding, I know how to keep things running smoothly. As an upbeat, friendly and personable communicator, I easily connect with people and foster a positive atmosphere wherever I go. Oh, and did I mention? I'm a language enthusiast! I speak English, Spanish, and Portuguese (though I'm still learning the latter).

Whether it's adding an artistic touch, teaching, cooking up a storm, getting hands-on with design, or managing events, I'm ready to dive in and make a meaningful impact as a volunteer.

We are both music and nature enthusiasts. We are excited to learn about both new cultures and traditions and local flora and fauna, whilst meeting compelling individuals and creating lifelong memories.
