Paar / zwei Freunde
14.01.2013 - 18.12.2020
We're Caitlin and Steve, from Melbourne, Australia. In January 2020, we left our jobs, family, and cat behind to travel the world for a year.
Steve is a secondary school teacher and enjoys reading, writing, travel, and learning new skills. He's particularly interested in helping with maintenance, construction, garden work, cooking, animal care, or teaching - but is open-minded about helping out hosts in other capacities as well.
Caitlin loves the diversity of life experience that comes from travel. An animal lover, she has never met a dog she didn't want to pat and is sad to have left her cat (Oscar) at home, but is keen to engage with new people, places and animals to expand her knowledge of the world.
Both of us have completed WorkAway placements before on a trip through South East Asia in 2013. Our work teaching in Cambodia and helping with the rice harvest in northern Thailand are some of the best memories from the trip as a whole. Because of this, we're eager to once again connect with local communities, to make friends, learn skills and better understand the places and people we're visiting.

Formally trained in biological science and business Caitlin has worked in a variety of different roles, from animal husbandry to general management. In addition to the WorkAway's of 2013 listed above, Caitlin has also worked on two WorkAway's in 2011. Eco-building at a yoga park and animal care in the Bolivian Amazon. Caitlin is happy to help out with whatever needs doing, but would especially enjoy working with animals, kids, cooking, building or helping with designing materials for marketing etc. She would love to learn more about aquaculture, permaculture, recycling and sustainable building design whilst learning about local culture - and hopefully a bit of Spanish while she's at it.
Steve has been a secondary school teacher for eight years, mainly teaching english, psychology, literature, and humanities. He's had some experience working with international students to improve their skill at communicating in English. Outside of work he is active and has been gradually improving his knowledge and skills in maintaining and taking on projects around the home we bought in 2017.
