Hi everyone, my name is Giovanni. I’m from Italy and I’m 31 years old. I started this journey through Workaway in July 2025, right after walking the Camino de Santiago solo in May of the same year. That experience pushed me to take a sort of gap year to travel around Europe on my own using Workaway.
Right now I’m heading towards Northern Europe. My goal is to reach the north of Sweden by February, then slowly make my way back to Italy by passing through Finland, the Baltic countries, Eastern Europe, and eventually return home.
Along the way I’d love to meet as many people and different cultures as possible and I think that’s really the main reason why I decided to take this trip.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I was born and raised in the countryside in Northern Italy, so I grew up doing all the usual farm and outdoor work. Since I was little, my dad showed me everything from gardening and taking care of the vegetable patch to handling the many small tasks that come with living in the countryside.
We used to have a few cows that we brought to mountain pastures every summer, and my family owns a small piece of forest where we cut wood for the winter. We also build the spaces we need ourselves, so I’m used to basic carpentry and general hands-on work.
I also worked for three years in a bakery, where I learned how to make bread and baked goods pretty well.
I have babysitting experience with my sisters’ kids, and I spent three weeks in Belgium in October 2025 taking care of two amazing girls, aged 9 and 13.
During this trip I’m also studying to get certified in SolidWorks, a 3D parametric modeling software, and I’m comfortable with computers in general, especially CAD programs and organizing tools like Notion.
I’m sure I’m forgetting a bunch of things, but in general I pick things up fast and I’m always happy to learn something new.

Was noch ...

I like board games, e.g. Risk, I also like many cards games and I really like reading, my kindle is always with me. In the past I was a really good videogame player, but now I'm out of that world. I really like hicking and be in nature, I love history and I like to be well informed on what is happening in the world.
