Greetings from Amsterdam!

My name is Bart Konings and I'm a 29 year old sports and cooking enthusiast who is excited to again spend the next year traveling & working in Italy to build new connections and immerse myself in the Italian culture.
I am a trained and experienced teacher in physical education for kids aged 4-18 years old. I have worked 5 years in education and love working with kids! Further, I am a certified personal trainer for adults and have recent experience training one-on-one and group lessons. It was really fun to make use of my skills during a summer camp in Trani (Puglia). Talking and teaching these kids has been a big improvement on my development in learning the Italian language.

Next to sports and fitness, my other true passion is food and cooking. Before becoming a teacher, I spent time working in various restaurants in Amsterdam where I developed my cooking skills and found a love for the culinary arts. Now, I cook whenever possible for family and friends and I'm always pushing myself to try new cuisines.
This winter I was able to work in Austria as a chef in charge of the kitchen of a 70 person chalet. A really nice and experience!

Growing up, I spent every summer in Italy with my family and fell in love and connected to the culture and it has always been my dream to one day live in Italy. Last year after gaining professional experience in the Netherlands for 5 years - it was time for me to fufill my dreams and move to Italy! I had been learning Italian in my free time and was looking forward to fully immersing myself and learning the language. I had such an amazing time, saw so much of the south of Italy and fell even more in love with Italy. Learning the language, meeting and speaking with the locals and enjoying the small towns and nature... It was wonderful! Having spend most of my time in Puglia as a tour-guide in Lecce I also learned a lot about the history of Italy, I'm so grateful for that!

This summer I am again open to an array of experiences and looking for any opportunities to use my skills to help Workaway hosts. I am a hard worker, who is proactive and can quickly pick new things up and will always take the iniative to help further when I can. My friends would describe me as extroverted, warm, open-minded and active. I love meeting new people and learning about new things.

I am excited for where my WorkAway experience will take me and look forward to meeting you soon!

Was noch ...

Besides sports and cooking I am a bit of a nerd haha. I like fixing bicycles, learning about history and current events, playing board and video games, and investing. I am also very social and love to sit outside with friends in the park or cafe and going to a party now and then.
