Hi, I’m Ayumi. I was born and raised in Tokyo, and I’ve lived there for 30 years. I’m planning to stay in the Netherlands for around a year, and it will be my first experience living abroad. Books inspired me to take this step, and I’m really excited to experience Dutch culture and meet people in the Netherlands!

I’ve worked in a few different kinds of jobs, and most recently I worked as a baker and front staff at a bakery. I love making bread, and I often bake at home too.

I love spending time traveling, baking, reading, drawing, and being in nature.

People sometimes tell me that I seem like someone who could live anywhere. I enjoy learning through new experiences, and I’m always happy to help however I can.

I’d love to learn about your life and culture as well, and I’d also be happy to share my own experiences with you :)

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Most of my jobs so far have been connected to hospitality — from customer service at an IT company to front staff in a bakery. What motivates me most is feeling that I’m genuinely helping people. Through these experiences, I’ve also learned a lot about myself and grown as a person.

I really enjoy communicating with people, and I’m quite open and friendly even when meeting someone for the first time. People often tell me that I seem to enjoy talking with customers, and that they enjoy talking with me too.

I also have experience with bread baking and farming. Recently, I stayed at a potato farm to help with sowing, and I really enjoyed the experience. These are both things I’d love to continue learning more about and improving my skills in.

I also love drawing, and sometimes I help friends make flyers using my illustrations.

Was noch ...

I often travel alone around Japan, and I’ve also traveled to Finland, Italy, and Spain with friends. My favorite way to travel is connecting with local people through working together and exploring local places — preferably without using my phone too much ;) I feel happiest when I can form a connection with people and places.

I also started running in 2022 to build a healthy habit, and gradually I found myself really enjoying it 🏃🏻‍♂️
