¡Hola! Somos Larissa y Arne, una pareja belga que está haciendo realidad un sueño que tenemos desde pequeños: explorar el mundo de una manera tranquila, aprender de diferentes comunidades y contribuir allí donde podamos.

Para los dos, viajar no significa simplemente tachar países de una lista. Desde nuestra adolescencia hemos soñado con experimentar diferentes formas de vivir, pensar y trabajar, al mismo tiempo que formamos parte de las comunidades locales y contribuimos a ellas.

Hasta ahora, hemos vivido de esta manera en los Países Bajos, Bélgica, España y Berlín (Larissa), y en Bélgica, la República Checa, Marruecos y Kenia (Arne). Después de terminar nuestros estudios y adquirir varios años de experiencia laboral y como voluntarios, sentimos que este era el momento adecuado para continuar nuestro camino y viajar por Sudamérica.

Somos personas curiosas, abiertas de mente y fáciles de tratar. Nos gustan las conversaciones profundas y significativas, conocer gente nueva, aprender nuevas habilidades, generar un impacto positivo, pasar tiempo en la naturaleza, compartir comidas, hacer música, resolver problemas prácticos y comprender mejor cómo otras personas ven y experimentan el mundo.

Los dos creemos que tanto las pequeñas como las grandes acciones pueden contribuir a crear un mundo más sostenible, inclusivo y solidario, y que el respeto, la comprensión, el amor, la paciencia y pasar a la acción nos pueden ayudar a conseguirlo.

Nuestro plan es viajar por Latinoamérica, mejorar nuestro español y, eventualmente, establecernos durante un tiempo para trabajar allí antes de continuar nuestro viaje hacia otras partes del mundo. Para nosotros, Workaway es una forma perfecta de conectar con las personas en lugar de simplemente visitar lugares.

También queremos ser transparentes sobre lo que buscamos. Venimos de una etapa bastante intensa y exigente, por lo que valoramos los proyectos en los que las personas trabajan con cuidado, se relacionan desde la confianza y el respeto, se comunican de manera abierta (somos grandes fans de la comunicación no violenta) y valoran un equilibrio saludable entre contribuir y tener tiempo para disfrutar de la experiencia.

Somos trabajadores y estamos muy motivados, y creemos que el buen trabajo surge en un entorno positivo y sostenible.

Hi! We are Larissa and Arne, a Belgian couple who are making a childhood dream come true: exploring the world slowly, learning from different communities, and contributing where we can.

For both of us, travelling isn't about ticking countries off a list. Since our teenage years we've dreamed of experiencing different ways of living, thinking and working, while becoming part of local communities and contributing to them. So far, we have lived this way in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Berlin (Larissa) and Belgium, the Czech Republic, Morocco and Kenya (Arne). After finishing our studies and gaining several years of work and volunteering experience, this felt like the right moment to continue our journey whilst travelling through South America.

We are curious, open-minded and easy to get along with. We enjoy meaningful conversations, making new friends, learning new skills, making meaningful impact, spending time in nature, sharing meals, playing music, solving practical problems and better understanding how others see and experience the world. We both believe that small and big actions can contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive and caring world, and that respect, understanding, love, patience and taking action will bring us there.

Our plan is to travel through Latin America, improve our Spanish, and eventually settle for a while to work there before continuing our journey to other parts of the world. Workaway feels like the perfect way to connect with people instead of simply visiting places.

We also want to be transparant about what we are looking for. We are coming from a busy and energy-intensive period, so we appreciate projects where people work with care, interact based on trust and respect, communicate openly (we are a big fan of non-violent communication) and value a healthy balance between contributing and taking time to enjoy the experience. We are motivated workers and believe that good work happens in a positive and sustainable environment.

Larissa
- Máster en Pedagogía y Ciencias de la Educación (KU Leuven)
- Profesora titulada de educación primaria y profesora de francés para educación secundaria
- Experiencia enseñando a niños y adolescentes
- Experiencia impartiendo talleres sobre el cambio climático a adolescentes y adultos (¡Climate Fresk!)
- Coorganización de escuelas de verano para niños que necesitan apoyo educativo adicional
- Experiencia como monitora en campamentos juveniles
- Le encanta bailar (salsa, bachata...)

Arne
- Máster en Ingeniería de Biosistemas, especializado en sostenibilidad y microbiología
- Experiencia trabajando en el sector de las ONG (Fundación Rey Balduino)
- Experiencia como voluntario en granjas ecológicas y de permacultura en la República Checa y Marruecos, donde también ayudó en proyectos de bioconstrucción
- Experiencia como monitor en campamentos juveniles con las ONG Don Bosco y Kazou
- Hábil para tareas de mantenimiento, reparaciones y bricolaje
- Interesado en la sostenibilidad, el pensamiento sistémico y los proyectos comunitarios
- Toca la guitarra y disfruta compartiendo la música con los demás

- Master's degree in Bioscience Engineering, specialised in sustainability and microbiology
- Experience working in the NGO sector (King Baudouin Foundation)
- Experience volunteering on organic (permaculture) farms in the Czech Republic and Morocco, where he also helped in eco-construction
- Youth camp animator with the NGOs Don Bosco and Kazou
- Handy in practical maintenance, repairs and DIY tasks
- Interested in sustainability, systems thinking and community projects
- Plays guitar and enjoys sharing music
