Hello, I am Archie from Cambridge in the United Kingdom. I studied Anthropology at University and have a passion for discovering, learning about, and immersing myself in new cultures and communities. I am a relaxed and laid-back person, unlikely to complain and happy to rough it and live the simple life, and also willing to work hard and earn my keep. I enjoy being out in nature and doing practical work outside.

I love to travel, and before the pandemic I had been all around South and South East Asia, as well as lots of Europe. A few years ago I spent half a year travelling around South America, stopping off at a few workaways along the way, including working at a dog shelter in Peru (which also ended up helping with a construction project to build more accommodation for volunteers) and doing gardening and landscaping in Bolivia.

I am a qualified English language teacher, and would be very willing to teach this for free in return for accommodation, or lessons in Spanish.I would love to improve my Spanish, which currently is still at a very basic level, and I am not especially good at learning new languages however I have a huge desire to learn. I can only speak my native language and so I would love to change that.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

I have two previous workaway experiences, one of which was helping to build an ashram in Nepal which also included milking cows and and planting trees, as well as learning to do basic agricultural work on a farm in Wales, UK.

I have done a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course and so am qualified to teach English to non-native speakers. I would be very happy to trade these lessons for lessons in Spanish, as I would love to learn to speak a further language.

I have worked as a Manager in a pub in the UK for many years, and so learnt all about how to run a business and organise other workers, as well as develop excellent people skills and conflict resolution.

I also have a year's experience working in a primary school, as a 1 to 1 teacher for a child with learning difficulties, where I had to develop skills in patience and empathy in order to produce the best learning environment for the child.

I enjoy reading books, playing and watching sport (a fan of Liverpool FC). I also love to chat and share stories with people, learning all about people from a variety of walks of life.
