Antonio

As someone who grew up in Mexico City, at 15 moved to the UK and also lived in Italy and Sweden for while, I love exploring new countries and cultures, learning new skills and generally being adventurous, useful and independent. I am 35 and Chloe is 25

I have also worked since I was 15, so I've become a very hard working and enthusiastic individual, my ambitious and curious nature means I have done very well in my jobs, from being a restaurant manager at 19, opening my own coffee shop in London at 22, and now having worked for some of the biggest food companies in the UK including manging the whole UK team for a large food and drink brand, I have become a responsible and reliable individual that likes to get on with people and make a difference.

Having a year or two travelling the world and doing workaways has been a dream of mine which I haven't stopped planning and talking about for at least 10 years and now it's finally the time!

Chloe and I met at work a few years ago and we both share the same passion for culture, travel and being resourceful and learning new things, so we are looking for amazing and unique experiences where we can support, work hard and enjoy the day to day.

For my coffee shop which I ran for 3 years, I built the whole furniture with a friend, collecting wood and other materials from skips in london and creating a very rustic coffee bar, tables, benches and at 26 I bought a narrow boat project which needed a lot of work, I basically stripped the boat to a shell and built it all up, with some professional help such as plumbing and electrics, but the rest I did myself, including replacing wooden panels in the roof, installing a fireplace, creating new rooms, insulation, etc so I can be very resourceful as long as I have the right tools!

We could both teach English but we are not qualified. I have taught Spanish before, I am not qualified as a teacher but I have helped people in the past learn using a Spanish lessons book. I want to go from intermediate to fluent in Italian after I lived in rome for 4 months when I was younger. I also want to improve my swedish and maybe pick a new language up!

Was könntest du arbeiten?

As a couple we are both very enthusiastic and positive, we are very able people and like to get things done but for specific skills:

I am very resourceful and like to get stuck in any job but from my work and life experience I am good in customer service settings, dealing with clients, managing people, organising schedules and admin, getting tasks done! I also have some experience in building and DIY, building my coffee shop and house boat from scratch, as well as in my own house.

I am also a very fast learner and feel like I can become good at many things with the right teacher!

I can do latte art and cocktails as well as cook very well from my hospitality experience in coffee shops and restaurants.

I am quite fit from running and climbing and generally a sporty person for the more body intensive tasks.

My last role was being responsible for Sales & Marketing for a large UK Company, managing the UK team, hiring new members of the team, dealing with national chains and large clients, so I can also get involved in making businesses and companies busier and more succesful this way for some workaways.

I can play chess very well! :)

Even though I am currently 23 I have been working in one way or another since I was 15, from working at the local coffee shop to a large department store selling luxury clothing and items. I have always been good at dealing with people and in general delivering good customer service. My last job was in Sales & Marketing like Antonio, I helped organise large events, sometimes internationally, which required attention to detail and planning. I also created content for the social media accounts and websites around new products and events. I had a large amount of clients which I dealt with on a daily basis, making sure they got what they needed when they needed it and supporting them in being succesful.

I like to think I am the more creative one of the two of us, I am good at making a space feel good and decorating, I recently helped a friend who bought a flat to use on Airbnb do some rennovation and decorating the new place, including painting the house, buying furniture and generally making the place feel welcoming, clean and ready for guests.

I love animals and I am good at looking after them, at home we've always had pets, currently we have two dogs and three cats, but we have had guinea pigs and rabbits too.

I received a top mark in my Criminology degree where I learnt analytical skills as well as insight in psychology and law, also became better at problem solving, setting processes and communication.

I like to think of myself as a positive, can-do person that wants to learn new skills and is always up for new challenges.
