Beschreibung

We are Josephine and Anouk, two long-time friends from Germany. Josephine is studying Public Health and Anouk is studying Psychology. We share a love for nature, adventure, and meeting new people. We're both curious, open-minded, and always up for new experiences whether that means hiking through the countryside, cooking a meal together, or diving into a new culture.
This will be our first Workaway experience, but we're incredibly eager and motivated to make the most of it. We bring energy, a strong work ethic, and genuine enthusiasm to whatever we do, and we're excited to learn, help out, and connect with the people and places we get to know along the way.

About me - Anouk:
I'm Anouk, 21 years old, from Germany, currently studying Psychology in English. Besides that, I've picked up a pretty wide mix of skills over the years, mostly just from doing all kinds of different things.

I have experience working in service, both at an ice cream shop and a frozen yogurt shop, which has given me a solid understanding of how to deal with customers, stay friendly under pressure, and find quick solutions when things get busy. I have also worked as a promoter, engaging with strangers and representing products, which has made me comfortable approaching new people and confident in customer-facing roles.

Animals have played a major role in my life. I worked at a veterinary practice for four years and later studied veterinary medicine for a year, which gave me a strong, practical understanding of animal care. I also take regular care of my family's dog. Alongside this, I danced ballet and went horseback riding for several years, both of which taught me discipline and body awareness.

I spent time helping out in a carpentry workshop where my dad used to work, which gave me an early, hands-on understanding of careful and precise craftwork. I also spent several years in a theatre class, where I helped build stage sets with my group. In addition, I have helped set up and take down stands at a festival, giving me experience with fast-paced, practical teamwork. Since I live in a house with a garden, I'm used to regular hands-on upkeep and basic household work.

Since my mother is an elementary school teacher, I spent a lot of time around children growing up and genuinely enjoy working with them. I am patient and quick to understand what they need. I really enjoy cooking and baking, and Josephine and I have already done catering for parties together therefore we work really well as a team. I also enjoy snowboarding and hiking to stay active.

I am fluent in both English and German, and I am currently learning French as a beginner. I have held my driver's license for a long time and have experience driving a wide range of vehicles, from vintage cars to brand new ones to 3.5-ton trucks.

Overall, I bring a mix of practical skills, reliability, and genuine care for people and animals to everything I do, and I stay open and curious about learning new things.


About me – Josephine

I am Josephine, 22 years old, from Germany, currently studying Public Health. This background has given me a strong awareness of wellbeing and care, which I try to bring into how I approach hosting, cooking, and looking after the people around me.

I have moved house more times than I can count (15+ for sure), which has made me very adaptable and comfortable settling into new environments and communities quickly. Through this, I've also gained a lot of practical experience with heavy lifting, moving, and setting up and organizing new spaces.

I have professional experience working in a hotel, where I was involved in service, housekeeping, and the kitchen. This has given me a solid understanding of how to keep a space welcoming and well organized, from setting a table properly to ensuring guests feel comfortable and looked after. I have also worked as a food promoter, engaging with strangers on the street and offering product samples, which has made me comfortable approaching new people and confident in a hosting or sales-related role. In addition, I have organized parties, including catering, and therefore have experience with event planning and preparation.

For several years, I did face painting for children at festivals, and I genuinely enjoy working with children. Cooking and baking are among my favorite activities in my free time, and I take pleasure in preparing meals for others. I am also able to cut and dye hair, a skill that has proven useful on various occasions.

I attended a Waldorf school, where practical craftwork played a significant role in the curriculum. As a result, I have beginner-level skills in woodworking, ceramics, crocheting, knitting, and sewing. I also spent several years in a theatre class, where I helped build stage sets with my group, and we were fortunate enough to win several awards for our work. I enjoy painting and drawing, both artistically and practically (having painted walls as well), and as a child I briefly studied piano and violin. I stay active through jogging, Pilates, and yoga, and previously danced hip hop, modern dance, and some ballet, in addition to a short period of horseback riding.

I am fluent in both English and German, and have a basic foundation in French from school. I enjoy reading, and gardening holds a special place in my life. My grandmother used to work in the garden with me, and she was the one who first sparked my interest in plants.

Overall, I bring a combination of basic practical skills, creativity, and genuine care to everything I do, and I remain enthusiastic about learning new things along the way.

Some of our favorite things: game nights (Skyjo, Uno, you name it), outdoor adventures, concerts, traveling, the ocean, animals, chasing sunsets, and just soaking up the sun whenever we get the chance.
