Hellooo, I'm Alden from the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia, but I've lived all over! I've done lots of work exchanges in lots of different places and I really appreciate the experiences and people that I meet along the way. I think it's the best way to travel, you can really get to know a place and its people. In my free time I enjoy creating art, reading, surfing, listening to music, dancing, and walks. I am quick to smile and I love sharing languages and learning from others. I am motivated by projects that I care about, I message hosts intentionally, with this in mind. I prefer longer stays to better settle into

Summary: I strive to be a valuable asset wherever I am involved! I have a university degree in International Relations & Spanish and have worked in hospitality, farming, teaching, food service and cleaning. I am a Red Cross certified Lifeguard, with First Aid & CPR certification as well. I am a self-starter and a willing student if you are a willing teacher.

Customer Service Help:
I've worked in various customer service positions, including restaurants, a café, an art gallery, and a yoga studio. In 2022 I worked in a bed & breakfast in Nicaragua greeting guests, translating, and performing administrative tasks throughout the day. I am comfortable at a front desk and enjoy greeting people cheerfully and helping them out. I speak English fluently and Spanish proficiently. I frequently use my Spanish knowledge to understand French, Italian, and Portuguese, but I would love to learn to speak and understand more.

House Help:
I am a confident cook who is always interested in learning, too. I think that food is best enjoyed when shared. I also have a lot of experience with children and I love their energy, ideas, and outlook on life. In 2023 I worked as a teacher at an outdoor school in California and gained a lot of skills for entertaining and relating to children. I'm very responsible, positive, flexible, and empathetic. I am a thorough cleaner and have worked as a cleaner at a yoga studio, a café, and a rec center. I get satisfaction from seeing a difference after cleaning. I also love to organize and find it very cathartic.

Farm Help:
I've worked on farms in Spain, Virginia, North Carolina, California, Arizona, and Hawai'i. Most farms were fruit/vegetable/animal operations but others were more focused around construction and art. I am VERY familiar with weeding/clearing, planting, watering/care, harvesting, cleaning, organizing, and heavy lifting. I have built chicken coops, a goat pen, fencing, and a greenhouse with reclaimed materials, and would like to learn more about construction. I am thorough, I ask questions when necessary, and I enjoy solo and group projects. I appreciate a variety of projects to work on and also enjoy some routine and consistency. I am very familiar with communal kitchens/living spaces, I am clean and considerate.
