Hi there, I'm Alex, in my 40's but still feel 20!

I'm a bit of a nomad with a love of travel and exploring new places.

I've loved my workaway experiences so far in Scotland and Spain, using my self converted campervan to explore, it's a great way to see the world.

I love cooking, my last full-time job was as a breakfast chef in a Scottish guesthouse and I also have a pizza oven in my van so can cook proper pizza on my travels!

I've been lucky enough to do volunteer work in various countries, these include:
Thailand - looking after rescue elephants, harvesting food/enclosure repairs/feeding/walking.
Texas - Working with All Hands and Hearts rebuilding/repairing houses damaged by hurricane Harvey.
Borneo - Helping with Orangutan rescue centre walkways/bridges/enclosures.
India - teaching basic computing to Tibetans in exile.

Currently I'm trying to learn Spanish and hope to move to the north of Spain in the future.

I love to help people, learn new things and get off the tourist trail.
I'm hard working, easy going and a bit of a perfectionist.
As long as I have tea, fried eggs on toast for breakfast and pizza then I'm happy!

Carpentry - just converted my mpv to a camper
Electrics - as above, 12v and basic 240v
Plumbing - most things apart from gas
Decorating - tiling and painting
Gardening - Landscaping mainly
Photography/Videography - Landscape, Drone, Photoshop editing and graphic design
Cooking - Spent 3 years as a breakfast chef, pretty good at Roast dinners and Pizza!
Mechanics - I know my way around a car
General house maintenance
I can turn my hand to most things really.

Alex was a fantastic help to me over the past month while I had an unexpected broken toe and couldn't drive!! He is a lovely guy, always cheerful, got on great with my 3 dogs who he walked every day and constructed a new chicken coop so that I wouldn't have to deal with the steep slope up to the old one. What an awesome experience I've had in the stunning mountains of northern Spain.
Rebecca was such a great host, knowledgeable, kind, caring, along with a great soul.

What a place to Workaway! I stayed for just over two weeks but wish I could have stayed longer. Pi and Lynton made me feel very welcome on the stunning and friendly island of Jura. Vom Workawayer für Host (Would you like to help me at ...)

Victoria was so nice, caring and genuine, a great introduction to workaway. I spent the majority of my time at the finca in a lovely cherry tree lined valley. Victoria is a great teacher who was very patient helping me with my Spanish, I learnt quite a bit. Hopefully I'll return in the future.
