Hi, my name is Abhilasha.
I’m 18 years old and I have just finished school. I’m currently doing a gap year before going to university and would love to spend some time trying new things in new places. I consider myself an open-minded and curious person and I would like to explore different lifestyles. I enjoy spending time near nature or with animals and learning about other people’s lives.

I am planning to spend time doing voluntary work in Switzerland. I would love to see the more rural areas of this country and get better at speaking the local language (either Swiss-german, French or Italian). For a few years now I’ve lived closer to the countryside and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing the landscapes and the lifestyle of people here and I would like to explore this side of Switzerland more.

I very much believe in sustainability and being ecologically friendly. My family grows vegetables and herbs in our garden. The rest of our garden is overgrown with native plants and flowers and always has bees and other insects buzzing around. I love to see the impact even just one family can make to further biodiversity in an area and I’m eager to learn other ways in which I could get better at caring for nature.

I am new to Workaway but I have travelled within Europe before (Italy, Spain, France). In my gap year I am interested in exploring the options voluntary work has to offer. I am a fast learner and open to learning any new skills during my travels. I’m also adaptable and happy to help people in any way I can. Gardening and animal care are areas I’m interested in learning more about, but I’m open to anything else I have not thought about yet. I look forward to meeting people and exploring opportunities!

I speak English, French, and German. I have done some gardening in my own garden and am keen to learn more about it. I have taken care of a friend’s cats before and am curious about caring for other animals too.
